Syracuse hoops under investigation by NCAA

If there is a college basketball god, he will punish $yracuSe with the force of the ten plagues.

I would love to see those obnoxious fans after their program gets hit with real sanctions. Just to be at the Garden and yell something like "You are busted", would be a lot of fun.

I'm not going to lie, I was downright giddy when I clicked on the link to this story earlier today. I'm going over to the NCAA office and offering any legal services, pro bono of course, to assist them in this investigation :cheer:

Syracuse has just over 100 more all-time wins than St. John's. Would love to see some victories vacated, and the Johnnies move up the list.

the NCCA after investigating violations by collage programs have penalized the school
by removing wins - St John's lost their 5th NIT title ( not sure if was for the season)
Villanova lost a whole season back in the 80's -- My question is-- How many wins will
Syracuse lose for YEARS of violations ? -- my guest is NONE --starting with Southerland
and other academic violations, pedophiles, drug abuse, shop lifting, rapes, assaults etc--- coach Jim is an all american icon who was not aware of years of violations.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_vacated_and_forfeited_games_in_college_basketball

Here's a list of List of vacated and forfeited games in college basketball. The NCAA tends to focus on postseason wins in basketball, although St. John's vacated 46 regular season wins from 2001 to 2004. (Thanks Jarvis).

I wouldn't worry about the whole American icon idea. That didn't save Joe Paterno. Speaking of Paterno, he had 111 wins vacated, so there is a recent precedent.

This will pass as every other threat by the NCAA to SU has gone away. Syracuse U leads the Big East, the NCAA and the NBA and both national political parties in lawyering up, getting the PR school hopping, waltzing with the upstate press and employing their their considerable Newhouse
School alumni in the media to make everything go disappear, all the time, every time. Frankly, they are bigger than the NCAA investigative team. They are the absolute best and all that live and know the drill in Syracuse recognize the facts. You can get a pass on rape if you play for the Orange. It's happened! They will never touch Syracuse, ever. It would kill the economy of Onondaga County in one week.

this nails it!! to paraphrase jerry tarkanian...the ncaa is really upset with kentucky. looks like cleveland state is getting two more years probation.

I'd just prefer to see them have to recruit fairly, and then watch us kick their frozen asses for the next 15 years, home and home of course.

until the ncaa put sanctions on the program, the news today isn't a big deal. there as been a laundry list of accusations but somehow syracuse manages to deflect them.

So true. Until I hear of actual sanctions and not just an investigation, this story means nothing to me. Jimmy B and Cuse have dodged every bullet that has come their way and I have no reason to think this time will be any different.

Villanova was also stripped of its 1971NCAA championship.

I think the Hammer will fall this time. I think it could be a huge loss to Syracuse Athletics. The consensus in Syracuse today is one of resignation. If they do get hit, I think JB is gone.

Otis, That's being unfair listing the 38 crimes committed under Boeheim's tenure (at least, those few that made the paper).. Each and every one of those "crimes" were passed on by the local jurisprudence system and then firmly adjudicated by the student body court who soundly punished the perps with strong language or worse, and an occasional banishment from an early season game with Buff State, Colgate, or Lemoyne.
Believe me, this will all go away as well. They are probably preparing a brief blaming it all on Bernie Fine, and they let him go already. Play Ball! cried the umpire.

Unfortunately, nothing will come of this. Hate to be cynical, but it's been going on for 30+ years. Now the NCAA is going to do something? I'd love to see sanctions so long lasting that Boeheim would have to retire, but it just won't happen. Somehow he gets away with it. He was so smug the other day at the press conference too. He knows he's gonna get away with it.

Did I hear correctly yesterday that this stiff claims to not knowing what this is all about? You cheating sob. Taking away wins, recruits and tournaments will do him in. And why not?

Boeheim's like the teflon Don, except in the end it caught up with Gotti, hope the same happens to Jimmie boy and the rest of his arrogant program and fans.

I was going to post the exact same comments.
