Hoyas Hit with MoreTransfers
Freshman forward Myron Gardner and junior forward Galen Alexander will transfer - Alexander accused the University of unfair treatment and having his “ character defamed “ - sounds unpleasant.

I will try to attach the article if my pre-iPhone brain can figure it out.

I find myself feeling bad for Ewing as opposed to numbness when it comes to Syracuse it U Conn.

Georgetown men’s basketball players Myron Gardner and Galen Alexander, who were each named in at least one of two civil complaints that included allegations of sexual harassment and assault, announced Friday their intent to transfer from the university.
Gardner, a freshman, announced his decision in a statement released to The Washington Post. An hour later, Alexander, a junior, followed on social media.
In his announcement, which was posted on Twitter, Alexander criticized the university for what he called unfair treatment in the wake of two complaints filed last month in D.C. Superior Court that implicated him and two other members of the basketball team.

“My character has been defamed and that needs to be cleared up more than anything else. Very soon it will come to light that I am innocent and had nothing to do with the false allegations,” Alexander wrote. " … In light of the situation, the University has allowed me to become a target and subjected to unfair treatment, with little or no support.
“With that being said, my family and I have decided that Georgetown is not the environment for me to successfully grow as both an individual and as a basketball player. With a heavy heart, I would like to announce that I am transferring from Georgetown University in hopes of finding a program that will help foster my success and allow my true potential as the person and player that I can become.”

No sympathy here. My dislike of the Hoyas runs deep and certainly don't recall much love from their fan base after our issues in Pitt during the Jarvis years. Hope we get a chance to run it up on them.

I don’t want to see one of our potentially strong programs get killed in this particular way. That said, they’ll be back, but Ewing is gonna have to take several steps back to move forward. If it comes out that this kid was innocent, then it’s gonna really hurt Georgetown’s recruiting down the stretch.

With the amount of transfers out, it is become more clear that the players distrust the program/admin. and it is not “only” a problem-player scenario. I can’t see this working out in a good way for them. I don’t have sympathy for them but it doesn’t help the Big East for it to happen.

I really don't dislike any of the Big East programs and will always have a soft spot for Patrick because of all he gave to my favorite pro team (Knicks) over the years. Hope they survive this year and get back on track next year.

By current NCAA standards this scandal could be the best thing that ever happened to G'town. The most scandal riddled programs are thriving. L'vill and Kansas are #1 and #2. Top 25 is a Rogue's Gallery littered with the biggest offenders and sleaze factories. The message is clear that cheating and corruption = success and there is nothing the NCAA will do about it if your brand and funding is strong enough.

This fits me until UCONN comes back next year. Then there will be one Big East team that I will root against no matter who they play.

Well the difference here is that the thriving schools were and still probably are paying for the best players. In this case, Georgetown is just losing players and it seems because of distrust of the administration or general disenchantment of some sort. Not sure it works out as favorably.

Now UCONN is different. I’m waiting for some scandal or ball to drop ;-)

None.

I don’t recall any sympathy when SJU had to play walk-ons. God bless Phil Missere but it wasn’t exactly the golden age of St. John’s basketball.

I don't like Syracuse, I don't like UConn and I don't like G'town - but I would be remiss if I did not express my actual feelings upon reading the article - and for whatever reason, I feel bad for Patrick Ewing - perhaps because he and Chris Mullin seemed to be close.
all the best

No sympathy for Georgetown, for the exiting players, for the current players, for Ewing, for JT, for JT3, for Mary Fenlon. On the greater scale, most despised is Uconn, then exCuse.

Agree with all. Sympathy level for Hoyas - 0.0
I do like their bulldog mascot, though.

Well they separated from Cuse at the half 48-36. If I could see both teams lose, it would be great, but Georgetown beating Syracuse who’s not in our league and I hate even more than Georgetown, is still a good thing.

Well stated!
I will never like anything Hoya!

There were some allegations by female students of sexual assault by male students at or after parties on campus at sju last year. The allegations werent so much of unwanted sexual contact but if demands by males that girls have sex without condoms. Crazy stuff. But current sju students can comment here.

Once a girl files a claim of sexual assault, a university must fully investigate and protect the female alleged victim. There is probably a lot of gray area or at least one word against another, but many marquee student athletes believe that sex is part of their benefits package. I'm going to guess these athletes aren't denying that sexual contact took place but that it was consensual.

No I don't feel bad for Georgetown. Ewing, like Mullin, is finding this is much harder than they thought

Time heals all wounds. Thirty years later, my rabid hatred of the Hoyas has softened to strong dislike. (And I can even find a small -- very small -- soft spot for Ewing. ;)

Since it's the new Big East my sympathy extends only as far as us being better than them so if we come in first I'm cool with them coming in second.

Syracuse on the other hand can fuck off and whither away in the snow

IMHO, tempting to equate Mullin & Ewing but just not accurate. Patrick paid his dues with many years as a respected assistant coach in the NBA. He is a pretty good coach. Also his record to date with Gtown is 41-32; Mullin's record was 59-73.

I have a hard time figuring if he’s a very good coach to this point. I think he was MUCH better at picking his assistants, with a good one in Orr who was a pretty good coach and known recruiter in his own right. Georgetown has also had decent talent over last few years without any major drop offs talent-wise until recently exodus. Time will tell and Ewing I think is much more invested and understands all the things that need to go along with the coaching part, like actual recruiting, summers, having a complete staff etc.
