To be completely fair, Mullin could have been in but decided not to attend when Carnesecca pulled out. I understand he was in the area this weekend.
Very nice event. Our former players as a group are really nice people, easy to chat with. It was such a huge turnout it was impossible to chat with everyone I would have liked to. Did speak with Ron Stewart, who was there with Gordie Thomas, also chatted Billy singleton, Zendon, and a bunch others.
Rick brought his entire team, and Rick really understands the tradition of St. Johns and how important it is for his players to know they are part of something much bigger than themselves. Got a chance to speak with RJ who said he is ready to go at 100%. Joked with Brady that with his new weight and muscle I'd want to see him punish someone with a flagrant, which he thought was funny. All in all Rick has recruited a bunch of great kids who Rick is very high on.
It was a day to be proud of St John's and to celebrate just how Coach C has been the one constant in his lifelong affiliation with St Johns. The only thing missing was Coach.
Bruce Beck was an awesome mc and choked up when he said that sfter his own Dad, coach was the guy he loved and admired most. He recounted that an interview he did outside of coach's home during Covid was nominated for an Emmy.
Red.fans was well represented with too many guys to name. All great great people to a person.
Man, if Pitino can get us deep into March, the city will explode with an outpouring of fans.
Today was kind a reminder of just how great it is to be a Johnny, and how ready we all are for a great season.
