Great Storm Marketing NIL networking event last night in Feeport, and happy to see many of you there - Monte, Cesar, Wendell and many other fans and supporters.

Consensus is just about unanimous that Kull is a great hire.

Spent a lot of time with Mike Hampton, our baseball coach. He is a terrific guy, and we had a great season last year.

What I learned is how important NIL is for baseball at SJU. It's very small now, but just in the past few months we've lost two top players transferring out for healthy 6 figure NIL deals.

It's abundantly clear that if fans expect an AD like Kull or Cragg or anyone to create winning programs across the board, NIL donors and sponsors must expand dramatically way beyond men's basketball.

Well armed NIL collectives are spending on non-revenue producing sport athletes. Where this all goes is anyone's guess but obviously we need to do better.

On that note, I'm super impressed with the organization Storm Marketing has built over three years. I don’t know where we would be without them.

I didn’t know about the event, I wish I had as I probably would have attended.

All-BIG EAST First Team Catcher Jimmy Keenan (hit over .320 and lead the team in homers and RBIs) transferred to Wake Forest which is also where our previous starting catcher, Tate Ballestero (Keenan was the DH and the No. 2 catcher) went for his last year.

All-BIG EAST First Team Starting Pitcher Mario Pesca transferred to Oklahoma State.

The NCAA has created a monster with NIL, the extra COVID years, and the fact a kid does not have to sit out if they transfer. We are going to see lower level D-1 schools in whatever sport in baseball big east is like the (caa or A-10 in hoops ) being poached by acc or sec powerhouse programs.

I don’t follow college baseball but the below news article caught my eye where UTennessee is paying its baseball coach an annual salary of $3M which is proof of the escalating costs associated with maintaining a winning college baseball team.

I have spoken with Vin at Storm Marketing a number of times and I appreciate his voluntarism and hard work.

Under his previous contract, he was making $1.5 million a year, which ranked fifth in the SEC and sixth overalll according to Front Office Sports.

While it is considered a non-revenue sport, in the SEC, the ACC (for the most part) and some programs in the Bog 12 and Big Ten, it is anything but that.

Where do they derive revenue besides donors?
College Football and Basketball are considered “revenue” sports as they produce revenue. College Baseball is generally considered the opposite except where I mentioned as they draw thousands of rabid fans to games in stadiums (the SEC has at least two stadiums with capacity of over 10,000) that generally sell out who spend money not just on seats but merchandise, food and beverages. This is what I was referring to without including the direct donations these schools get for baseball which correlates to their fan base, how big College Baseball is in certain parts of the country and its support.

As far as the coaches salaries, it is not uncommon for some of it to come from outside sources whether it be a sneaker company, a booster fund or other sources. This happens in College Football and Basketball.

Kidding right? You cannot score a ticket to a VOLS baseball game in Lindsey Nelson Stadium. Sold out every game with every tix going to season ticket holders. And now they are doing a second round of luxury boxes and added seating. Check out the season ticket prices as well as the required donations for seating! It FAR exceeds SJU basketball pricing and contribution levels. VOLS baseball brought in $4,300,000 in revenue . Their baseball budget was $7.3 million in 2023.

Didn’t know Keenan transferred what a bummer.

So what do you get for the Porch seats? The difference between those and everything else is pretty drastic.

Porch seating includes seats like a private outfield box, 20 tix per box, bring all your booze and drinks, and food. You pull up outside of the porch area, they unload your car and carry your coolers up to your box. Each box has a grill to cook or you can bring food. Or you can cater everything through their food service and have it all delivered to your porch box. The waiting list to get a porch box is years ! Heaters for cold weather and two parking passes for each box.IMG_6648.jpeg

You do realize Tennessee is a foreign country? 😀

I dont follow ncaa baseball so i wouldn't know. I did go to an early season SJU baseball game. If they had just 50-75 more fans they'd have broken 100.

I just tried to go on Storm Marketing website for more information on the bar crawl and all it does is spin……I guess the site needs repairing
