Hey Mean Gene, if HALF of those things come true, we will be a very good team.
Agreed.

Hi Mean Gene its me Alexandria!
Great response!
No question Gift is flying under the radar. You and I agree on that! You really know some hoops and about Johnnie balling! Woooohoooo BABY!!
My rationalization for the Johnnie run to the Final4 and BE Champs comes from looking at the national landscape and comparing and contrasting rosters and potential match-ups with other teams.
Nice comparison with Gift and Mbakwe. Rodney Williams was a huge disappointment in his Sr. year for Minnesota last year so the support like you say was not there. St. John's is stacked and the key for us is balance. Will our back court be as good as Memphis if Dixon gets the waiver? The potential Dixon, Jackson. Geron Johnson (blowing up this summer) and Crawford 4some of Senior guards could be lethal for the Tigers but our front court is more experienced and gets a nice edge. Other than Michigan State and Louisville our roster has the edge! That could change by March Madness!
Jordan will be the real deal. The key is peaking at the right time and simply having Branch be serviceable until "The Prince" gets acclimated should be the goal. I agree though Branch is an important player. Will JS play like a lotto pick? I can't confirm that will happen but cumulatively between JS, Gift, Orlando and Chris we have one of the best (Top 4) front courts in the United States of America. I think you will see 6.5 pts and 8.1 rebs per game from Chris in 2013-14. I think Sir'Dom will be a HUGE part of the teams success. Oladipo's shooting improved dramatically in 2012-13 especially from DOWNTOWN. A 25% jump for VO was off the charts. I hope Dom becomes a bit more of a volume three point shooter. I think he can hover around 40% which would be a 7% pop from last year. Sir'Dom should have comparable rebounding numbers next year to VO's from 2012-13. Harrison should have a chip on his shoulder the size of Mount Everest after last year. Hooper and Borgault will be our designated snipper "hit men" just hanging out getting ready to be called into action to nail key 3 pointers. Our bigs should create open looks this year for a sniper like Hooper. We don't need Hooper to hit 100 threes at a 46% clip like Brady Heslip did in Baylor's E8 run in 2011-12. We just need Hooper to keep other teams honest. 20-25 clutch 3's from Hooper this year is realistic.
Sweet16 is SWEET but Final4 is very very probable!
Have a beautiful night!
We are not going to roll out Sampson, Sanchez, and Obekpa at the same time very often. Coach Lavin has proven that he likes to play with a smaller, quicker lineup. Sampson does not have the perimeter skill set to be playing substantial minutes at the three.
I don't like guessing starting lineups with Coach Lavin, but I think it will be:
Branch
Harrison
Pointer
Sampson
Sanchez
I am confident CO will come off the bench. He doesn't mind it, as he says it gives him a chance to analyze the game. Anytime you have a quality player that doesn't mind coming off the bench, that is a huge asset for a coach. I could see Jordan starting ala Polee, but I don't think he'll garner many more minutes than either Branch or Greene.
One thing is for sure in my mind, and that is that Harrison will get the most PT.
Re; Sampson. Totally disagree. He was pretty money from about 17 feet last year. I think he was undersized as a 4, and it's pretty amazing he put up the numbers he did. I think he's more lethal as a 3.
Re: Obekpa. Everything you say about him coming off the bench is true. But I don't care if he wants to come off the bench. His shotblocking is one of our best assets. Leave him in there until he fouls out , minus a couple of blows each half. You're idea plays to the "punish the good guy" mentality, so that the "bad guys" don't complain, and that's a total pet peeve of mine.
Re: Jordan. If he's seeing the same minutes at point guard as Branch and/or Greene are, then it's 1 of 2 things:
1. He's not that good
2. Lavin has really screwed up
Re: Harrison getting the most playing time - That's up to him. Definatly a weapon when he's on, but when he's not, we need the Harrison we saw in the first Notre Dame game last year, as opposed to the one we saw in the Pitt game.
If I'm not mistaken, Jordan is the highest recruit of the Lavin era? From what his clippings say, he may be the most talented player on the team.. Even though he's a frosh, I don't think Lavin recruited him so highly, not to start him immediately..

I'm not sure whether the poster in question is Joe or OldRed. But I do believe JohnnieGirlxo is someone who currently or use to post on this board. Definitely, not a woman.
I'm certain there are a handful of folks on here who uses more than one screenname.

I don't understand the multiple handles thing, but I really don't get the pretending to be a girl aspect. Creepy as hell.
