St. John's-William & Mary Game Thread

7-6 WM at first tv timeout.

SJU points are a Harrison three and a layup and Ft from God's Gift

They need to realize that they can't win on pure athleticism anymore.....they need to play the game of basketball......

These guys look really, really raw and inexperienced

So many freshmen, no surprise. But it's a little unnerving to see just how inexperienced they look, especially as a team. Good things will come, but there might be a few ugly beatings come Big East season.

For kids that are suppose to be able to shoot its disappointing. Lets go man to man and let them take their defenders off dribblei

If they shoof 30% in a 1/2 they will be in big trouble in the BE This zone does not shows their talents

I am actually kind of enjoying this game.....to me, there is nothing better than watching a young kid who thinks he is all that be put in his place.

People always said that "confidence would not be a problem with this team...."

Well hopefully this is a big slap in the face and wake up call........

Really? I haven't seen anything from our kids that suggests they're prima donnas. I heard a lot about what they believe they can accomplish with hard work.

We are going to see a butt load of zones until we shoot...my hope is that they are really just jitters because the misses from 3 point land are not pretty. Have seen two or three kick outs where they could have had an open 3 but they stepped and shot with a hand in their face. I am not worried about the true freshmen as they are all 4 year players in my opinion and with that many high ranked kids some are gonna find their groove and shine like they did in HS (Harkless and GG looking the best so far.). Am a bit worried about Nurideen though. I was expecting him to be able to create and seeing very little creating going on. I thought with his JC playing time and maturity I would see a difference.
Not happy being down to W&M but the score could be a lot worse. The athleticism combined with experience will make this a tough group down the road. The defense even scares me right now. With time they will give any team a fit. Right now playing an upper level BE team the defense would get shredded with all the missed assignments I have seen.
Go young redmen go. I am up for taking the bumps and bruises with you as you restore our tradition of excellence.

If he didn't coin it, Al McGuire certainly said it a lot: The best thing about freshmen is they become sophomores.

Frustrating, yes? But that's the kind of year it's going to be: up and down, up and down. As for W&M, I believe they lost on the road to Syracuse by three, 63-60, last year. So they're not exactly pushovers.

And now to the second half ...

is it just me or does d'angelo's shot look awkward and rushed...just curious if I am seeing things.

apparently Nurideen heard me and is making me eat crow...I will gladly take a seven course buffet of that. keep it up
