Didn't understand the thread title. Damn, I was about to nominate Cos.

And I remember that guy that had the name " bombiraqnow" as his handle

Wow, that's a blast from the past.

These kids today have it so easy. Why I remember when we didn't have choices on where to post stupid messages about our team. All we had was the AOL message boards, and we Liiiiiiiiiiiiiiiked it! Right Tom?

Paul, what year did the first iteration of rm.com launch? Was aol taking down the boards or did you just identify that a better option was needed? It's been so long I can't even recall. Let's have a Redmen.com history lesson and totally ignore the real subject of this thread!

I recall the AOL boards still being up when Redmen.com was launched. A few people was still posting on the AOL board when I was going on there. I found Redmen via the AOL board.

Traffic had long died down, but the AOL boards remained for a few more years, if I'm correct. I found Redmen in January or February of '98. Time sure flies.

I stumbled on redmen.com in 1997.

But you got right back up and continued posting. Good for you. Trust me, you've stumbled a few times since as well, we all have. ;)

I remember talking to Paul about the site in the late 90's.
We found each other on the old Big East boards.
He created a monster well before most other schools.
Can't believe it's been that long.

Thanks Dink. I can barely remember those days. The only folks I definitely remember from AOL are Mave, TIS and Paul, oh and Cos44 of course. To the rest of you who were there, it's not you it's me. I've run out of storage room in my brain and it seems I've been deleting old files with great regularity.

I've noticed this on the front page of the site, hopefully this sheds some light:

Shortly after the Christmas break of the '97-98 basketball season, redmen.com was launched. What began as a hobby effort of an itinerant St. John's basketball fan, quickly became a shared passion of fans and others from around the world. Run solely via community volunteers redmen.com has historically been the most trafficked website in the history of Big East sports having served well over a Billion pages and multimedia.

You and me both! Marcus and ESPKEN were regulars on AOL too. And even sadder, in a Galaxy far, far away I was a sysop on Compuserve when AOL was a startup and Prodigy wasn't deported to Mexico.

Good dude.
Used to write columns for Paul if I remember correctly.

Fark we're old. I remember when you were a freshman. When did you graduate from UConn?

Of course Marcus has been around since the year dot and he was a young dude back then fresh out of school as I recall. I was already middle aged when we started this journey.

That is great and fascinating that many of you have been posting together for fifteen and more years. My life has slowed down to the point where I can experience this. Thanks for letting me join in and feel free to increase my Karma.
