 Dissapointed

Don't be!!

We have basically a freshman team playing the varsity every game? Remember those years when frosh were not eligible? To have three players not eligible is disappointing but that is BIG factor in the predictions. If Norvel and Amir get qualified, I see us moving to 10th at best! In a 16 team conference with Syracuse, Pitt, Villanova, Uconn, ND, Louisville, WV, Gtown, Marquette where did you think SJ would be picked?? LOL!!! If that is not a baptism of fire for these kids I don't know what is!! This team will be GREAT next year!

I think that is generous considering we don't have 3 guys eligible. Had we had everybody eligible, I think we could have been top 9. If we get Amir and Pelle for second semester, we'll sneak up.

Exactly. But people are quick to dismiss because of the 3 ineligible players, look at SJU's potential backcourt this year. Lindsey/Harrison could be one of the most talented by year's end. Really good.

This....

I believe those two kids have the ability to cause plenty of headaches for the opposition over the course of the season. I wouldn't be surprised to see them consistently score 35-40 points combined during the season.

IMO, they were gonna be asked to carry the load, whether Garrett, Pelle and Sampson had been eligible. I guess they are gonna really have to pack their lunch now that we're a bit shorthanded. I feel confident in saying, I believe Lindsey and Harrison will be ready to go and show they belong.

I also feel we're gonna get significant contributions from Pointer and Harkless. Pointer is coming in after retaining a fifth year in the prep ranks (which should only help him). He certainly has a college-ready body and he seemed to have improved leaps and bounds over the past year. I believe he ended up being the highest rated player (overall) in our 2011 class. He seems to have a good work ethic and that should prove to go a long way in the end.

Harkless is probably the most polished kid in our 2011 class. He also has added some muscle and seems ready to physically compete on collegiate level. We're talking about a 6'7" kid who brings an array of offensive skills to the table. He'll probably be next-in line, behind Lindsey and Harrison, when it comes to a player we're gonna lean on to score.

We're gonna be young, inexperienced and shorthanded, but also talented. Hopefully, Garrett and Pelle are able to make it back by December to give us added depth and more talent. I also believe this team will be a tough out for someone, as the season progresses.

Looking forward to hearing recaps of the exhibition games and the start of the regular season.

The two keys are:

1) staying healthy- even one injury can decimate our roster

2). Finding out a way to make up for thhe fact that we have almost no post presence with 1 PF/C on the roster. It's a huge problem and not an enviable one.

Im really hoping we can get Garrett and especially Pelle cleared for Big East play. Adding one more big man who just happens to be Rivals top center is pivotal for us. I don't want to count our chickens at this point as I view it as gravy if we can get those guys. If we do get em both, it changes everything for this team this season.

I think they picked us 2 spots too high.

Aren't you a beacon of sunshine.
What is the last positive thing you have said?

I think it was in the 1980s sometime.

As you know, I would be very happy to be wrong.

I'm looking at a team full of newcomers with no bench and no frontcourt depth. I think winning 6 conference games and having a .500 overall record would be a very nice job by the staff.

Then they can take a big step next year.

But I think this year is gonna be rough. Look at the non-conf schedule - holy crap.

I think many fans are forgetting Syracuse and Pitt will be around for the next two seasons! With Louisville, WV, Georgetown, Villanova and Uconn, I think we may be ranked 8th NEXT YEAR!! The good news is that 8 Big East teams will likely get NCAA bids next year with the expanded field. The NCAA may even favor conferences like the BE and the A10 that have not been moving away from the NCAA domain like the Big Ten, 12, SEC etc.

The 80's is a great response.

I haven't been much of a predictor but I think there is a method to the madness especially in terms of the OOC schedule. I expect a dud early game (Detroit) and also us knocking off a big boy early. Remember before we hit our run last year we lost 4 in a row and a few were good ass kickings. I also have always been an advocate that teams play to the level of competition more often than not. Hopefully that plays into our favor a bit.

That all being said I agree the frontcourt scares the bejesus out of me. But if I told you that Pelle and Amir were here on Dec 21st how does that alter your predictions.

Eli Holman took a leave of absence from the team, so Detroit becomes a lot less formidable if he remains out.

Yes , predictions by Pundits can be accurate. Hope the teams play shows them they should have had more confdence in us
