St.John's was mentioned on the show, " Power" which airs on Starz. The chauffeur for the main character, Ghost, claimed he had a tryout with St.John's but blew out his knee. Good show by the way.

How about Rosie Perez wearing a St. John's shirt in "White Men Can't Jump" and of course who can forget the most famous SJU reference of all time, "Coming to America" with Eddie Murphy. :)

Clooney the fixer in Michael Clayton, went to St. John's.
Run DMC, the iconic Sucker M.C.'s (Krush Groove) "I go to St. John's U Ni Ver Sity" DMC is an alumnus.

I was always of a fan of the St. John's mention in Eddie Murphy's "Coming to America"
Eddie Murphy and Co. actually go a St. John's game in the movie.

Great flick. Pretty funny.

Andy Garcia's character in the late, great Sidney Lumet's "Night Falls on Manhattan" is an SJU alum.

"Yes in the face"

I think it's a St. John's vs Hofstra game. I distinctly remember seeing someone who looked an awful lot like Rik Smits on the floor.

It was Marist. I remember being at the game 12/28/87, 66-59 win.
Correct on Marist and Smits! The guy looked so much like Rik Smits it was Rik Smits! Remember seeing Smits sitting on the bleacher sits at Alumni Hall-he took up 4 rows of seats from where he was leaning back to where his legs unfolded and his feet reached!

??
Rik Smits was Marist.
He was referring to this clip of a supposed SJU game where he believes the guy looks like Rik Smits

Awesome! What a great movie. I remember doing a double take driving down Queens Blvd and seeing McDowells with the Golden Arches.

The Perfect Score is a 2004 movie about a group of High School students who work together to try to steal the SAT exam. Former St. John's recruiting target Darius Miles plays Desmond Rhodes a fictional High School basketball star who is being recruited with fervor by St. John's and Mike Jarvis. Old Mike appears in the movie playing himself as the recruiting St. John's coach. It is of course ironic because Miles was actually recruited quite aggressively by Jarvis and St. John's before deciding to bypass college completely and go straight to the NBA.

All in all not a terrible movie with Scarlett Johansson, as one of the students involved in the plot, being the best thing in the flick.

Sharon Lawrence's character Sylvia Sipowitczs was a Law School graduate of St. John's.

Understood the clip - it was Marist in the 1987 Holiday Festival is all I was getting at...not Fordham - it was a real game

One thing I will miss about Obekpa leaving is standing up and yelling "In the face" every-time he blocked someone at MSG.
