St. John's Media Day

Smart, IMO

“@NYPost_Brazille: Touted freshman Rysheed Jordan will not be available today for those interested. Steve Lavin bringing him along slowly. #sjubb”

Lavin said Harkless would be the number one pick in this year's draft if he had stayed.

“@NYPost_Brazille: Lavin said Jordan will start to talk to reporters about a week before conference play, in late December. #sjubb”

That's how most schools do it. First semester media ban for freshman (with Dean Smith, I think the ban was for the whole year).

The last 2 years, we had so many freshman, Lavin felt he probably had no choice but to let them talk. Like it or not, you have to give the media someone to talk to.

Harrison very high on Sanchez, says he could go for forty if he wanted to. Sampson and Harrison very impressed with Hooper. Sampson worked with him to try to improve his own three point shooting.

Best thing about those comments is it says they are coming together as a TEAM, to heap praise on each other and not themselves.

@JournalisTim: After battling shyness and injury, #sjubb veteran Phil Greene IV is finally comfortable and healthyhttp://t.co/x4ldNmAab3 , via @QSJUHoops

With enough depth to keep him from doing stuff he's not great at, and a healed hip that will allow him to do the things he does well even better, I think he's going to be a monster for us in terms of PPG relative to MPG.

When Phil scores, he scores in spurts. I agree with you that he could really put up some points in a hurry in limited minutes. I just don't want him to be out there and try to run the offense. He should think attack. 7 points in about 15-18 minutes would be FANTASTIC.

True, but Dwayne Polee was available in Lavin´s first year.

Lavin's only point in comparing Rysheed to Polee was that each one was the only incoming Freshman of their respective year. Nothing else.

I think Lavin was saying that he regrets putting Polee in front of the media so early.

Mature move this year.
