St. John's........ Big East Champions

up 6-5 but they shouldnt have sent that guy home on the hit to left field with only 1 out

It didn't get away, we gave it away.

Agree. With one out, we should never have tried to take it home. Should have kept men on the bases and kept scoring. It was our game. Now back is against the wall tomorrow. It is what it is. Bad call though is why we lost.

I thought coach stayed too long with Hansen; wasn't at his best. Talk about sticking with a pitcher, Lopez allowed Heyer to throw 133 pitches.

Outfielders gotta catch the ball. They dropped 2.

I could live with the errors but the 3rd base coach bothers me

3rd base coach is the Manager, so I think he has done a pretty good job this year. took a perfect throw to get him.

no it didnt, he was out by 15 feet and with 1 out it was completely unnecessary to take that risk. He did the same thing against NC with nobody out except then he was out by 20 feet.

I must admit that I haven't been following this team all year, and I don't know the players. Since I was home today, I watched the entire first game against 'Zona.

I couldn't believe how frustrated and downright angry I was watching this game. Poor base-running ended our five run inning. Poor defense got 'Zona right back in the game. And I know that our starter was the third pitcher, and he started off well, but he just collapsed under the pressure. This game was more frustrating to me than some of the live bb games I've seen over the years. I don't know why. Maybe because I've personally never seen our guys play in a Super Regional.

We better win tomorrow. Otherwise I don't know what I'll do! :furious:

the problem is we're used to watching nothing but major league baseball in this town. so when our non professionals play like upper level amateurs...it's an eye opener.

this year is gravy...a super regional for the first time this century. the last time we were in the college world series, the islanders were a dynasty. i can't lose sleep over baseball losses. it's more fun following some of these guys when they make the majors.

now you know why sny isn't breaking its neck following local college baseball.

It was a wonderful season..........Arizona advances! Our guys did themselves proud.

Agree Frank. Thanks for giving me the opportunity to see the Johnnies in Arizona; couldn't be more proud of these young guys.
Tough break in the first inning with the catcher's error, should have been three outs with no runs scored. Would have been a different game.

As a University of Houston Cougars fan, I was pulling hard for you, our future conference mates, to get past Arizona. I felt like getting a team like St. John's into the CWS would have been huge for college baseball, not just because it would be something of an underdog story but also because it might have opened the door for college baseball to grow a little more in the northeast.

Congratulations on a great season. The end result must be disappointing, but there is no reason to feel down about things.

Well said, newsie. Thanks for putting it in perspective for me. I am proud of our guys and what they have accomplished this year. And I think the future only looks bright for the program.
