St. John's Basketball Memorabilia

Since it's the July dog days of summer I thought this might as good a time as any to start this thread. I was wondering if any members on here either own or collect any St. John's memorabilia from yesteryear. I have a few items (mostly framed photos, surprise surprise for anyone that knows me) including a photo I took from this past St. John's v Syracuse game at MSG, a framed Lou Carnescca autograph & photo from the 1983 Big East Championship & a 1985 Final Four collage. But my two recent additions are really old school, one is a photo of Bob Zawoluk going up for a layup against Illinois in the 1952 Final Four & the other is of Joe Lapchick celebrating with the team after winning the 1944 NIT Championship (their 2nd of their back to back national titles). I've attached photos of them (the two recent ones show the image from eBay hence the watermark). Curious as to what others may have (or may have owned at one point). Bobbleheads don't count LOL.

I still wear my redmen hat from when I was in school all the time ( I'm wearing it in my avatar pic but it's tough to see ). I have another old school redmen thing at home. I'll take pics tonight of both and put them up

I am a sucker for treasures of the past and have been able to pick up a handful of old game-used jerseys through the school, some members on this site and occasional find on eBay.

Always on the lookout to expand the mini-museum in my man cave...

Have the front page of that Daily News "St. John Makes It To Final Four" headline framed and resting on a bookshelf in my bedroom. (Photos beneath that headline are a close-up of Mark Jackson and Mullin celebrating, and a close-up of Rollie M. and his son celebrating Nova making it to the FF that same day. Never understood the decision to show Rollie instead of Louie.) Have the iconic picture of Bill Goodwin sitting on the MSG rim after winning the '83 BE tournament framed and hanging in my kitchen (along with Felipe Lopez SI cover and a few others). In my bathroom, I have the full-page photo of Sonny Dove battling for a rebound against Cincinnati in the classic '64-'65 Holiday Festival semifinals. Obviously, I'm not married.

Glad you mentioned the Billy Goodwin SI Cover, another of my prized possessions are any SI issue with St. John's on the cover (I have the Goodwin one, the 1984 "Down Goes Georgetown", the 1985 Big East Feast & the Felipe Lopez one.

My father still has the Sport Magazine issue from fall of 1984, that predicted St. John's to win the national championship (or at least, had us ranked #1 preseason).

I lost my man cave when I retired and moved to a condo
I had a room full of St John's and Mets memorabilia
I had NBA game used jerseys of Mark Jackson, Mel Davis, Chris Mullin, Bill Wennington, Walter Berry and Shelton Jones. Some were autographed.
I also had a bunch of St John's game used jerseys
I tried to negotiate with my wife to hang the jerseys in the condo but got outvoted 2-1
She tells me that I live in a democratic household, as I do get a vote
But she gets 2 votes!! That's how you stay married for 44 years
The one piece that I still have is a game used red warmup jacket with Redmen on the back

I have a piece of the floor SJU played their only final four appearance on, signed by Louie. I don't keep it in the bathroom though, because I'm married and my wife is still pretty hot.

Had this banner and and my mother packed it away when I moved out 20 years ago and forgot about it until my mother cleaned out their attic 3 months ago

Hey, to each his own.

Have the cover of that issue (Dec. '84) on my kitchen wall as well. Shows a grim-looking Ewing (what's new?) glaring down at a beaming Chris Mullin, with the headline "Smile If You're #1."

And NYCRedmen, have the SI "Down Goes Georgetown" cover hanging there as well. Problem is, I haven't been able to add to SI cover collection for far, far too long.

I have the original urine sample cup (including the urine) of Slick Willie Shaw's first failed marijuana drug test.

I forgot to mention that I also had game used autographed sneakers from Billy Paultz and Bill Wennington. As Donald Trump would say, they were HUUUUUUUUGE!!!

I have some footage from circa 1950s St Johns that I rescued from an old super8. Also I have some toilet paper with the Georgetown logo on it - which I consider St. John's memorabilia when I use it...

St. John's also played in the Final Four in 1952.
