St. John’s vs Cuse 1985 end of regulation

Thanks so much for posting. Great memories. I have a VCR tape of that game somewhere also and I believe at some point going to commercial brake the camera man stuck his camera in my face wanting a reaction. He is still waiting. My other memory of that game, as was mentioned earlier Pearl was questionable with an ankle injury. I was in a class with Walter that year and remember talking to him about it and he had no doubt that Pearl was playing. Pearl was so much fun too watch.

Not enough credit went to Ron Stewart in that win. He hit a huge shot when we were making the comeback near the end of regulation, and that huge shot in the OT clip. He also made the steal from Pearl in OT that essentially won the game for us. A solid role player off the bench. Great D and always played within his game.
Ron was also a great teammate.
Great enforcer as well, had all his teammates back during altercations.

Day in the sun was senior year against DePaul at Alumni Hall. Part of a key second half run, when Lou wanted to get Wennington back in to sub for him, Big Bill waved the coach off and made him leave Stewart in the game.

That happened in my final year in high school. I was already a big StJohn’s fan since my sister attended during the early 50’s and the family was talking about an SJ star named “Zeke” Zawoluk who was making headlines in those days. Meanwhile, at Holy Cross HS, we were excited about an undefeated freshman team led by a kid named Bobby McIntyre who had a beautiful soft jumper from the corner.
