Mullins went out of his way yesterday to say that while Keita is not the shot blocker Tariq is, he has very good lateral movement and will be good defending side to side. Thinking he may have been talking about Sedee being able to guard the perimeter in a switching situation and of course when you have a big man like a Bagley-type who will go out and shoot the three from the top of the key.

I totally agree we want him under the boards in the normal course but having a big with lateral quickness is always a good thing.
I think you all are missing the point. When we played teams such as Georgetown who had bigs who could step outside and make 3's, our bigs including Tariq, were not able to guard them.I clearly remember us fouling a Georgetown player on a 3 in overtime that lead to our loss in DC.

What Chris appears to be saying is that with his footwork and quickness, Keita can guard bigs on the perimeter and still be able to crash the boards.
Wasn't that Yakwe?

Panther, that was pretty much what I was referencing when I said "being able to guard the perimeter in a switching situation and of course when you have a big man like a Bagley-type who will go out and shoot the three from the top of the key".

Tariq wasn't able to guard them? He seemed to guard the perimeter just fine. And no I'm not talking about blocked shots which is such an overrated stat to me. Mullin even mentioned that in the Rothstein pod.

The problem when the only big man gets pulled away from the paint we are at a disadvantage. The positive is the longer players like Heron and LJ can hopefully back fill on the occasions where Keita is pulled out from the paint.

No you can't waive or trade players but you can recruit them. IMO it is easier to quickly rebuild a college basketball team than it is an NBA team.
