Smith Injury

Spoke wDev..before I say anything let me check w him but i can say it could have been WAY worse...he'll be fine and back soon. Pain wasn't the issue range of motion was. Felt team needed juice so told Rick he could play when prob shouldn't have
I’d say sit out out Georgetown and come back the following game. He’s going to feel it the next few days.

Sim could use the expanded role.

Team player move. As I said at the game, his version of the Willis Reed Game 7 of the 1970 NBA Championship moment.

*Definitely shouldn't have.

Not in any way happy with the staff for putting him back in the game. Atrocious decision to allow him back on the floor.
Not joking thought I saw smith mouth on the bench “I shouldn’t have gone back in”

I don't blame Nova because I'd also be yelling to do it. But Smith taking those screens were brutal to watch. He was in immediate pain.

One thing I was thinking from the stands is that it would've been hilarious to see/hear John Fanta's reaction if this was on FS1. If he gets that excited about Ashworth, what would his reaction have been to this?!

Not Smith's fault. Players are always going to want to play and he is an especially tough kid. 100% on the staff and IMHO they failed miserably. Regardless of how much you want to win it's your job to be responsible with the kids and this was the height of irresponsibility.

Having said that my surprise level that they would have done it is exactly zero.

He would be calling for the Post Office to be closed on Monday

know this is the Smith thread.... but any word on RJ? it looked like a rolled ankle that was he was obviously feeling the following possessions. tying his laces tight right after and adrenaline got him through the last 3 mins... Poplar took advantage of that a couple times.

Losing Smith i think we can somewhat handle for 2 games (not demeaning his loss at all... just think smith/kadary/spot mins for Lefty could shoulder that load vs Gtown/Hall) - but no RJ is a diff story...

Oh man, fanta would’ve sounded like Collinswerth witnessing a Mahomes side arm throw

The Garden and the team were lifeless when smith went down even when we scored some points to close the half it was not loud at all everyone worried about smith ….this carries over into the 2h with the lifeless start out of the gate. Smith came to scorers table and place woke back out when he checked in….was one of the loudest it was all night. Was a huge spark to the team and to the fans (maybe not best decision but hopefully everything is ok) but it did provide a spark the team and fans needed.

Just to give some general info regarding a shoulder subluxation or dislocation injury.

A lot depends on how bad it was dislocated and did it pop back into place quickly as this will determine how injured the ligaments, tendons, nerves and blood vessels in the area are. Subluxation you don’t actually pop out but it does stretch the joint out and the ligaments in the area.

A dislocation could be a worrisome injury as it could absolutely affect his touch on his shots and passing. And it could make him less aggressive in his play as he worries about getting hit and re injuring it.

That said I sure hope it wasn’t really dislocated and more of a subluxation as this would be so much better of a situation and healing time frame would be more in line to initial reports of not missing much time.
