Here is what I don't understand about the tension you guys keep alluding to. Slice came back to work with Chris. He has openly said that him and Mullin have been close for a long, long time. So isn't Mullin doing everything he can to address whatever issues Slice has? Think about if you were working with one of your good friends. Wouldn't you try extra hard to make things right?

If it's true that Slice is unhappy with some things that occurred maybe he is tired of having to show his ID to get into the building everyday and getting parking tickets for failure to display his permit. The way things have been done on this campus tend to grate on a person.

Why wouldn't Mullin sit with each guy for a half?

No one is saying it, but is there conflict between Mullin and Slice?

You could be onto something. Perhaps there is some conflict between slice and Matt but slices problem is less with Matt than the fact that Mullin is not automatically deferring to slice on whatever issues since he is associate head.

Whatever it is let's hope time heals all wounds and two old friends are able to work it out to keep moving the program forward.

It's not a bad thing to separate work and friends. It's a pretty common rule for a reason.

If it's not working, they should just get it done and replace him with a top defensive coach with deep experience in the college game. And then turn the defense over to him.

Happy articulated his value well. Whether conflict is between coaches, with roles or a boss/subordinate difference, CM hopefully grabs the reins on this. It is part of his job. There is no upside to all of this.

There may be a reason other than what you are speculating. When my kids played hs sports, I learned to sit far away from other parents at times so I could focus on the game completely, didn't have to listen to idiotic comments, and not have anyone hear the critical comments I'd mutter about their darling superstars. Couldn't it be that Slice would rather do his job in complete isolation because he is focusing on the court and not his companions?

Hate to say it but where there's smoke there's fire, and it seems smoke is coming out from various directions. This ponderous program is being built with the top rated recruiting class in the conference; everyone seems to be forgetting that. Rohressen is a terrific recruiter, one of the best, his record speaks for itself, but he is not the only recruiter. We are much better with him but will not collapse if he goes.

Don't mean to imply nothing is going on. Clearly you have reliable sources. I just meant by it self that doesn't necessarily mean anything. Based on what you know, it's corroborating information though.

From what I understand, only one person can fix this.

What's most disturbing is that after only one season of the Mullin regime, a key staff member is rumored ready to walk, not for greener pastures but for less brown ones.

Observing this situation from somewhat of a distance, we have here an Associate Head Coach with extensive coaching experience who it appears to me has been taking a back seat to another coach who graduated from college in 2013. this rift, if there is one, may have nothing at all to do with Matt.
