I am sad to be reading this. I watch that dunk vs Nova all the time. I hope he figures it out.

Not good .... no way to spin attempted murder and robbery.

Twenty-two-year-old Rysheed Jordan, who attended Edward W. Bok Technical High School, is charged with attempted murder, robbery and other offenses.

Rest assured Steve Lavin will visit him in prison. Or invite him to dinner at Rao's. Something.

I beat Paultzman, I win. Delete all those copy cat posts mods. Riding my coat tails, pathetic.

Yeah, should have noted your JJ post.

At Mullin's initial press conference, there were about 3000 people in attendance.

A couple of students who worked in the AD were selling Mullin jerseys in the lobby. One kid who seemed especially nice and well mannered, said innocently, "Rysheed Jordan is a bad kid." I guess he was right.

What a sad situation. Kid could have been set for a life that most people only dream about. Instead, he will be wearing another kind of orange jersey for a long time.

Nonsense. Kid's life is ruined, it doesn't matter who gets the credit for reporting it. Now, if you'd predicted it with your avatar, that'd be a different story. In this case happy to share the by line.

F#$/ Steve Lavin.

Maybe if he wasn't posturing all the time, and feeding stories to the press about his moonlit strolls with Jordan in Italy ....he could have actually made a difference in the kids life. And maybe not too.
But a phony human was the absolute last thing RJ needed introduced in to his life.

And let's not act like there wasn't writing on the wall here. Jordan grew up in Jay wright's backyard, and he backed off his recruitment when he saw the kid was a headcase. Other coaches caught the drift and knew he was more trouble than he was worth.

Lavin recruited without any sense of duty to the schools reputation at all. For every Pointer and Greene there is a Jordan, Obekpa, Dela Rosa brother or Thomas. All of whom embarrassed the school in numerous ways, and who's recruitment raised red flags with other coaches. Not with SL.

Remember when a poll of D1 coaches said Obekpa's was the "shaddiest" recruitment they had ever seen? Behind even John Wall and OJ Mayo.

So, I say again.... f_$/ Steve Lavin.

Agree with you, but more than just a phony Lavin was yet another Jordan enabler. Someone who was willing to tolerate all of Jordan's antics because they needed his basketball skills.

Correct Monte.

And when I say phony ... in part I mean covering for him when he skipped town and missed practices.
That doesn't help the kid. Just let's him think he can continue to get away with it.
plus, what kindve message does it send to the other guys busting their assessment at practice??

And lets not forget the ole "death in the family" excuse. Hard to argue with that oft repeated Lavin line. I don't believe we've ever had a coach here who had come anywhere close to recruiting as many questionable characters at Lavin did. Just another thing to add to his legacy here.

But but but but he took Felix Balamou to dinner and probably didn't even expense it. That proves what a good guy he is and how much his players love him. And that place was expensive! So one of his star players tried to murder someone, big deal, that's really an outlier. If two or three of his players shot someone during a robbery you'd say okay, maybe there's a pattern there, but it's not like Federico Mussini or Yawke or any of the other prize recruits Lavin delivered tried to murder someone. The person I really blame for this is Norm Roberts. If he'd done a better job balancing the roster Lavin wouldn't have had to take a chance on a lost cause like Jordan - and let's face it Jordan never had a chance growing up as he did in a project that made the one in the gritty documentary Blackboard Jungle look like Willy Wonka's Chocolate Factory. Instead of Jordan he could have recruited quality student athletes like Heath Orvis, Liam Biesty and Bobby Kelly and taken them to dinner when they graduated instead of making deposits into their commissary accounts. And Father Harrington obviously, he's the real villain in this. If he'd spent less time being fitted for suits and more time tutoring Jordan after school like Jim Belushi tutored Baby Emile in the gritty documentary The Principal none of this would have happened.

Of course I am with you in thinking how in the world did he suspend Harrison and not Jordan. Especially based on some of the Jordan things I have been told.

Come on Fun, Louie recruited Jayson Williams should we "kill him" for that

Jordan shooting someone during an armed robbery a year removed from two years of learning that there are more important things than winning at the feet of educator first Steve Lavin is analogous to Jay Williams accidentally shooting someone 20 years after graduating? I think not.

With a Jordan thread already created, I immediately thought this was a Jarvis thread. Maybe a way to compare a couple of our recent coaches who overlooked character flaws.

But when I saw it was another Jordan and Lavin related thread, I figured it was just as well.

Personally, no matter how much Lavin deserved to be fired, he still won't reach the level of pure disdain as Jarvis.

Heck, I sided with team Captain America simply because the name of Ironman's talking computer/assistant is Jarvis.
