SJU vs Pitt Game Thread

so i guess you agree with me look up my old thread i said the same.

Only I didn't post in my thread...."OMGZZZ!!!! WE SUCK!!!" "WE'RE AN EMBARRASSMENT!!!111!!!"

I wished he'll also learn how to use the quote button, as well, guiness.

This was the preivous post to me (via miguel): "no i here to post whatever i want as long as its not insulting. nit deal with it dinkins we will make it the following year. stop whining."

What's with the "deal with it" and "post whatever I want" crap you continue to spew? Trying to antagonize? It's easy to be a jerk over the internet.
quote this ill say whatever i want get it . noe move on troll
no you just led the assault

Troll? LOL Comical.

Lol -- I thought you had a trademark on that line dinkins. Seriously, why can't you just let folks be upset and vent? It's like you and your friends think that you are the only true fans. Anyone who dares to criticize is immediately ostracized.

Have you seen what this guy have posted? Get serious! It's funny you specifically target me, as if I've been the only person who has said anything to miguel. Yes.... Comical!

It would be nice to get other POV's on this site other than "Maybe next year! Rah rah team! We will magically be great next year!". That's what I call blind optimism. We all know that one person way too happy and accepting about everything to the point where it gets quite annoying. How can you take the apologist position for a team that has been so bad for so long? Don't you get sick of it? I think there are 2 major groups of SJ fans. The first consists of the "good old days" guys who say the team in the 80's and prior when they were truly a dominant force nationally. They are now graying and balding, but they have been waiting for decades to see the team rekindle any part of that winning culture from those days. They see SJ today as they saw them in 1985. Then you have the 2000's era SJ fans. The ones like me who never saw them do anything but fail. The ones who saw them make 1 whopping tourney in a decade. The ones who had to watch Nova, Cuse, UConn, Pitt, G'Town fans succeed while we took out rent in the Big East cellar. The ones who more readily saw a flying unicorn than a top 25 ranking next to the SJ name on the box score. This is why group 1's fans look like blind optimists and group 2's fans look like negative Nancy's.

We played with Pitt and actually outplayed them for 30 minutes. Sucks that the wheels fell off. Lets win these last three and make a run in BET and go dancing!!
we out played them for thirty minutes what game were you looking at

Some of you on this board are honestly on sweet air when you post. It's as if you huff some before typing. Read this loud and clear: being disappointed, frustrated, and pissed off at your team's putrid performance does NOT mean rooting against them. It's the same thing parents do to their kids. They will yell, scream, sometimes even hit them (some still do that), but at the end of the day it's out of love because they have so much invested in them, not because they hate their kids. So I love SJ. I want this team to win a championship. But when they fail miserably I will not accept it just like you wouldn't accept your child failing in school when you know they are capable. Not because I hate them, because I love them. Our window for seriously competing is now down to 1 year and that is next year. Do you really feel confident with this group? I sure as hell don't. There's a reason we can't keep our own studs in NYC recruiting wise. We are a so-so team. They want to play for teams who know how to win for years now. We are still a has-been in college basketball and no young kids are going to dream of playing for SJ as long as we keep stinking up the place. Not many teams were this great at one time then had such a long stretch of futility. It's the Isles all over. Just cannot rekindle that old winning form.
I'm indifferent to what people around here feel about you. I'm just telling you to take a breath of air every now and then. I've been a fan of this team since 1984. I didn't even go to this school. If you don't think I hate the fact that we're a middling team, then I don't know what to tell you. I'm 36, a team I root for hasn't won a Championship since I was 9. I used to let this bother me a lot, but as you get older, life changes and some things don't bother you as much as they used to.
I dream of being a powerhouse again one day, but this is a thing out of my hands (and yours).

Guinness don't forget we're dealing with the instant gratification generation. Many(although not all) of these kids have no clue. A some point life will deal them a harsh dose of reality.

If we are the instant gratification generation, then you come from the "stolen pension" generation, the "eating and getting fat on your dime" generation, the "retire early" generation, the "jobs on trees" generation, and the "grumpy old guy next door telling kids to get off his lawn" generation.

Thanks for bringing that up by the way, only proves my point that this board is completely biased against those belonging to younger generations. It's fine if you are, just rename the board the "Over the Hill YMCA".

Correct, and they played hard but Greene cooled off and DLo never got started. i think when the team realized that and Woodall kept up his shooting, the air came out. They started rushing the shots, all of them off, and Pitt opened it up. It was a closely contested contest up until that point. It happens a lot in the Big East.
This is where coaching will come in. One full week until the Friars. Steve will have to get the team up and have them still believe. It's going to be hard.
Meanwhile the bus trip to Providence fizzled for lack of interest. We're all going down the tubes.

How is it blind optimism when all these kids are going to be older, we'll have another shooter in Hooper, possibly Jordan and Sanchez.

Yea, there is a reason we can't keep keeps studs here in NYC. Everyone and their mother recruits the hell out of them - some with multiple champsionship banners, some with outright lies, some breaking NCAA rules, some with beuatiful campuses, and all with silver tongued recruiters. We NEVER got all of the best players in NYC, and never will. We've gotten a good share and the best of the rest often. Every single major and mid major program recruits here, BUT lavin reeled in some pretty good players immediately, one who is in the NBA at this moment.

I feel really bad for you. I seriously think you are bi polar, and don't have any coping mechnisms at all. That's not a cheap shot in any way. If your posts are reflective of how you react in things that really matter, you should seek some help.
in the words of dwight howard your no doctor so please enough of saying someone is bi polar.

It's actually kind of cute that he brings up psychological disorders to a graduate student about to graduate as a licensed Psychologist. Lol...in other news a firefighter told a lawyer about law.

Really? I feel like I don't get treated unfairly on this board. And i don't know if ive ever mentioned this but I'm 15 years old so enough with that crap

We played with Pitt and actually outplayed them for 30 minutes. Sucks that the wheels fell off. Lets win these last three and make a run in BET and go dancing!!

Jack I really need to ask you something.
We see how we play against the better B.E. teams, we not not very good vs. them. If the last 3 were against DePaul, USF and SHU then i`d agree and say yeah lets win the last 3 games, we will play @ PC (they are better especially the game being in their house, @ ND (that`s a loss, and Vs Marquette (that`s probably a loss as well).
To me they`ll lucky to get one of the last 3.

Listen I`m a die hard Redmen fan (yeah please call these guys Johnnies, because they`ll never the Redmen.), I`m still waiting for MSG to rock for SJU like in the 80s. Not just once every 5,6 years we are good but year in and year out.

So Jack here`s the question. Please I`d like to know this especially after todays game.
WTF really makes you think that we are going to win the last 3 games? I would seriously like to know this.
Yeahj hoping is all good but you can hope all you want but it`s not going to happen.

The 2nd half of this game was just freaking brutal. Looked like we have never played together before.

I guess I'm one of the older people because I want those new uniforms burned

Except for being bald(full head of hair at 54), having a pension (Ive owned my own business for the past 25 years) and planning early retirement (I've got a son starting college next year and a daughter who's a High School Freshman), you've got me pegged to a tee. Oh and I live in an apartment in the city, not a house in the suburbs, so no lawns around here. But I must admit, I'm pretty damn grumpy most of the time.

And I know things are bad when I run into Diehard St Johns/redmen.com poster Matt C out on the street ( who posted here since he was like 12 ) and he was so disgusted he was thinking about quitting his job and going back to grad school at Syracuse just to root for them ( and he hates syracuse ). lol

Missed the game today. but read the comments should be .upset but honestly never
really thought they could win. In a look at this team yes they. have athletic players most can't shoot and have problems seeing court .knowing.when not to dribble but pass ..mostly D fair, shot selection fair
rebounding below average blocks above average etc etc Perhaps coach not only . should look at the best athlete but make sure they can hit an outside shot and shoot a foul shot Jumping out of the gym is nice but I will take a kid that can hit an open 3 and shoot 75% from the line Need a better mix Now do we deserve an NIT bid Only the remaining games will tell us

Yeahj hoping is all good but you can hope all you want but it`s not going to happen.

I think we can win these three because

a) I like how we matchup against Providence, plus a week to prepare for them, we can win that

b) I don't know why you said @ ND is a guaranteed loss, DePaul lost in OT against ND twice this year, one at ND, So why Am I crazy for thinking they can beat ND?

c) Weeks ago people on here were breaking down our schedule saying Marquette is one of hardest games of the year, so I've watched their last 3 or 4 games. How do I describe those games? UNIMPRESSED. Overrated, lazy D, and struggle on the road
