wow someone who gets it. im not a hater i love st johns i just not sipping the kool-aid most of you are. this team probably will lose in first round of nit.

Some of you on this board are honestly on sweet air when you post. It's as if you huff some before typing. Read this loud and clear: being disappointed, frustrated, and pissed off at your team's putrid performance does NOT mean rooting against them. It's the same thing parents do to their kids. They will yell, scream, sometimes even hit them (some still do that), but at the end of the day it's out of love because they have so much invested in them, not because they hate their kids. So I love SJ. I want this team to win a championship. But when they fail miserably I will not accept it just like you wouldn't accept your child failing in school when you know they are capable. Not because I hate them, because I love them. Our window for seriously competing is now down to 1 year and that is next year. Do you really feel confident with this group? I sure as hell don't. There's a reason we can't keep our own studs in NYC recruiting wise. We are a so-so team. They want to play for teams who know how to win for years now. We are still a has-been in college basketball and no young kids are going to dream of playing for SJ as long as we keep stinking up the place. Not many teams were this great at one time then had such a long stretch of futility. It's the Isles all over. Just cannot rekindle that old winning form.

I'm indifferent to what people around here feel about you. I'm just telling you to take a breath of air every now and then. I've been a fan of this team since 1984. I didn't even go to this school. If you don't think I hate the fact that we're a middling team, then I don't know what to tell you. I'm 36, a team I root for hasn't won a Championship since I was 9. I used to let this bother me a lot, but as you get older, life changes and some things don't bother you as much as they used to.
I dream of being a powerhouse again one day, but this is a thing out of my hands (and yours).

i say what i believe anyone who thinks this team is winning the last three games needs a shrink. this team is going to nit ill put my money down for anyone willing to take that bet . im sure no one will step up and take it

No one will step up and aknowledge you, let alone take you up on a bet. Has your intense basketball masterbation reached a climax for you yet? Jesus, Mary, and all that is holy what is the point to pound your chest after we lose. I am teetering on banning myself because we have too many fans who would rather us lose and say "I told you so" than have this team go ona liftle run and make the NCAA's and be proven wrong.

The funny thing about this post, Kranmars, and I agree with you 100 percent, btw, is how many of these people actually thought we were a Top 68 team before the season started? After we lost to SF? After we lost to UNC-Ashville? After we lost to Rutgers at MSG? These same people screaming about how crappy we are and how "embarrassing" the NIT is are the people who seem to have these lofty unrealistic expectation themselves.

I'm a Mets, Jets, Islanders, SJU and Tottenham fan. For those of you crying about, "poor me, my teams suck..." Grow up. Go root for Syracuse or Duke. I didn't get the chance to watch the game, I had to follow it on my phone while out with my family, so I stupidly decided to go through the game thread to get some inkling of an idea of how the game "really" went. Some of you would be hilarious, if you weren't so sad.

We got crushed. I think the reaction is 100% warranted on here and this is why: SJ is like someone who got lost in a huge desert and is slowly dying. You try to find water anywhere...walking for days and days STARVING of thirst. You finally spot what appears to be a body of water, but it turns out to be a mirage. After a decade of pathetic failure (and 2011 really resulted in nothing so don't bring that up) we finally get a new coach, finally start recruiting with the other top 25 teams, finally get the buzz back that we can seriously compete again, knock off a few good ranked teams, dominate USF, then come in and lay an absolute egg against Pitt at HOME. I thought the team had grown too much to get their butts wiped by a #20 team at home. That is a borderline ranked team and it just goes to show you how far away we really are. By the way I never said the team deserved a winner, I said us FANS deserve much better than this. Can anyone handle NY expectations anymore? I mean seriously. It makes me wonder how my favorite teams used to succeed. Today we played like the typical pushover SJ team of the past decade. I had a terrible feeling about this game before and now I know why. We are not even close to seriously competing. I want to be Nova, I want to be Pitt, I want to be G'Town, I want to be Memphis. Is that really so much to ask with all our resources and huge basketball culture here?

Just to make the tourney feels like I have better odds winning the lotto, and to be ranked or go deep into the tourney seems as likely as Tupac coming back to life. I know many of you don't like stone cold realists. You don't like being awoken from your Final Four dreams with a cold splash of humble reality that was today's game. I do not root against this team. I want this team to succeed probably more than anyone on this board. But it's games like this that really scream "Same old Johnnies". One litmus test I use to try and figure out whether we are a good team or not is trying to picture myself as the opponent's fan then asking myself "Am I scared of SJ?" my answer would be "no". If I was a Pitt/G'Town/Cuse/L'Ville/Marquette fan I wouldn't even drop a bead of sweat seeing SJ on the other side of the scoreboard. We are like cupcakes to them. You guys talk about such lofty goals for this team...we can't even make the tourney. Let's focus on that first. If we don't make it next year, it will really set us back even more.

I feel so much better now that Joe3 and Miguel are BFFs after this loss. What is it? Is a SJU loss some steroid injection for you? Do you feel powerful? Crapping on these players does not transform you into John Wooden. Enjoy our losses. We probably have a couple of more. I really wanted to go dancing in March. It looks like thats not going to happen. Were a middle of the pack BE team,which is OK. We are improving. Maybe next year we could jump to upper part of the conf. Remember all the pundits picked us to finish on the bottom, and we missed Branch for a chunk of the 2nd semester.

You have an also lot to say about this game for someone who didn't see or listen to a single minute of action.

There would be more reason to be negative if this wasn't a team mostly of freshmen and sophomores. They've done pretty well in a competitive conference for an incomplete team. Teams rarely look good while losing, so it's easy to be critical right now. No doubt this team has talent. Maybe Harrison will excel as a 2nd, 3rd or 4th option on a better team. Maybe Greene will be a valued sub on a tourney team in the next 2 seasons. Little doubt that Obekpa will continue to grow as an intimdating defensive force. Sampson will only get better and better. Tons of NCAA champsions have had a Sir Dominic type of player. And so it goes.

Relax, enjoy the rest of the season, and there may be a few wins left in these kids.

Are you speaking in absolutes? So there is no way this program can ever win again? Really, then why waste your time? I guess another of your absolutes was Branch out for the year prediction. Oh wait, you were off with that one.

And your kids analogy is spoken like a true unmarried person without kids. Parents tend to resolve kids issues in house. We hardly get excited if our kids do not reach a level we think they should reach, and we certainly do not get some thrill up our leg by bashing them either.

But carry on. You are getting ever so closer to making a rational point.

Guinness don't forget we're dealing with the instant gratification generation. Many(although not all) of these kids have no clue. A some point life will deal them a harsh dose of reality.

How did Pitt have 9 fouls in about the first 3 minutes of the second half and not get another till over a minute left? That aside we stunk up the garden and do not deserve an NCAA bid

We played with Pitt and actually outplayed them for 30 minutes. Sucks that the wheels fell off. Lets win these last three and make a run in BET and go dancing!!

Yea, there is a reason we can't keep keeps studs here in NYC. Everyone and their mother recruits the hell out of them - some with multiple champsionship banners, some with outright lies, some breaking NCAA rules, some with beuatiful campuses, and all with silver tongued recruiters. We NEVER got all of the best players in NYC, and never will. We've gotten a good share and the best of the rest often. Every single major and mid major program recruits here, BUT lavin reeled in some pretty good players immediately, one who is in the NBA at this moment.

I feel really bad for you. I seriously think you are bi polar, and don't have any coping mechnisms at all. That's not a cheap shot in any way. If your posts are reflective of how you react in things that really matter, you should seek some help.
