SJU vs Pitt Game Thread

We can keep it close but we cannot stop them and get over that hump. They always find ways to score. Not looking good.

We didn't get over the hump...we get a 1 pt lead then they take it right back and we sink right back into a 5-7 pt deficit. This is one of those games where it feels like they are up by 10 even if it's lower just because they are controlling the game and we can't stop them on offense. You guys need to realize the difference between hating a team or being negative and being realistic. This is exactly the kind of game I was fearing with them leading almost the entire game and us not being able to get over the hump and stay in the lead for a bit.

i agree the game is over . but at the same time whining through the whole game is pointless. we are just not a tourney team but ill just take it as a an and not whine about it
 
Same old story of our best players not being our best players in big games.

D'lo 13-of-54 in our games vs. GT, Cuse, L'ville and today. Need him and Jakarr to be studs against the best teams if we're going to win.

Tough to win when your best players doesn't show up.

Pitt best player showed up (Woodall), and the supporting cast has done their job. It's not looking good at the moment for us.

We still have the chance to get to 11 conference wins.
 
Agree w/ joe3. And dlo is killing us. So frustrating to watch. No half-court offense and no smarts. Tried to be optimistic. But no way we can erase anything bigger than a 5 point deficit. Oh well. Onto providence.
 
Harrison is just not a pure shooter. He is as streaky as they come. He will hit 5 3's in a row one game then go ice cold the next. The real major teams have guys that can consistently make shots and we can't do that.

Another absolutely laughable day from 3 at 22% or about the rate the common guy in a gym could make 3's at the local YMCA, and another terrible day FG wise at 34%. All this while allowing Pitt nearly 50% FG and nearly 40% from 3...those are numbers we just cannot put up. We have a solid team but we are by no means ready to beat the big boys consistently. We have now been dominated by G'Town twice, Cuse, L'Ville, and Pitt.

Of course, we can't erase it when your two best players have 'off games.'
 
When Pitt started getting all those fouls at the start of the second half and we got in the bonus very early, I thought we would be marching to the foul line a lot and close the gap....never happened.

one of many things this game that never happened..

Those games come far too often.
 
Exactly mj. All too common. I guess it means we will have them both back next year ;). Ugh. Had high hopes for this game. Thoughts of hardy were with me this afternoon.

Especially since we've got no one else to pick up the slack offensively. PG IV did it for a while but he's not capable of sustaining it.

IMO, this has little do with either thing. We don't play especially hard, we don't play together and we don't play intelligently. This is just not a very good team. It has talent but talent only takes you so far. I don't take coaches to task very much but why do we sit in that ridiculous passive zone? We have an athletic team but play in a defensive style that largely negates our athleticism. I realize neither Harrison or Greene have much of a committment to D but sitting in that zone is just the pits. Another big game that we came up very small in; the program obviously has a long way to go.
 
this is a nit team period. we dont deserve a tourney birth. and please dont let me hear someone say we are going to win the last three not happening. but overall i think it was a good year ill take 9-9 and the nit berth
 
1-11...sorry that just won't cut it. Not a bad performance...it's a pathetic performance. I know you guys hate me and that's fine but the truth is the truth even if it sucks...but Nova is legit and we are not. Until we prove otherwise, you cannot even argue the opposite. How many games have we been dominated where we shot 20% or less from 3? God forbid we get lucky one day and shoot 50% like other teams do at times. We are not dancing this year, and if we don't dance next year it's a total failure. SJ has so many opportunities to finally prove they aren't the same old Johnnies from this past decade, then they blow games like this at home.

By the way, this is the comfortable blowout in the end of the game with the NCAA's on the line that we would never replicate. I just don't ever see it happening with this bunch. Way too inconsistent and zero shooters.
 
Shooting 30 percent from the field. Not going to win many games like that. Very disappointing.
