SJU Preview Per Zach B

So disappointing to read as there is so much truth to the opinion.
Appears to be a lot of dudes on this thread, is one of you guys Lenny Dykstra? Agree RMN defense especially getting back and our 3 point defense.

Dude it's possible to play fast and play good D - see UNLV under Tark.

We're somewhere circling Paul Westhead's Loyola Marymount without Bo, Gathers or Fryer.

That's a bit of hyperbole. Shkrell's point is correct about scoring defense which is not as important a stat when your style increases the average possessions, and therefore both teams opportunities to score. STJ was 4th in the country in average possessions per game last year. The FG% defense is mediocre, but not abysmal. STJ's defensive efficiency last year was ranked even better at 104. So ok but not great. Yes, defensive improvement will be the key this year, but it's not like they're trying to improve from the bottom quartile or anything. I also feel that even without JC this team will find it easier to score, especially in the half court. More options than than in past years both with new talent (DJ, AC) and YOY player improvement that I've seen so far (MM, JS, RP). That should make up for some defensive weaknesses as well. I'm worried about how Stanley looked last night but it's just one game and he looked better in exhibitions, and it's going to take some time for AJ to catch up to the college game, but I'm cautiously optimistic that a dance is in the cards. So glad the balls have been rolled out. Let's see what happens.
