So why was he scared? This / Fix This:
" 'What would scare us is we got to handle the ball against their pressure, and they would never really go full pressure on us and then in the half court they’re easy to score on. To me, that’s the issue.' "
Dan Hurley or ed Cooley.Any guesses on who the anonymous coach is?
Didn't know staffs needed bulletin board material to be motivated thought that was taken care of by their paychecks. If this isn't bulletin board material for the staff, I don't know what is.

He saying handling the ball against full out pressure would scare him, but SJU never did that last year.So why was he scared?
All I have to say is WOW!! This should be pinned in every players and coaches locker for the entire season!
Anonymous Coach’s Take:
“I think Posh is a terrific player, he’s a difference-maker. He can have a big year. I love the kid. Jones can help them. He’s really good. … To me, they had two of the 10 best players in the league in the past and they were never really a threat. They aren’t good enough defensively to stop you if they don’t take the ball from you. My take would be I think they’re overrated. I’ll believe they’re an NCAA Tournament team when I hear their name called on Selection Sunday. … A lot of coaches in the league would like to take their top five or six guys, but I just don’t think they have any sort of winning identity that they’ve bought into. What would scare us is we got to handle the ball against their pressure, and they would never really go full pressure on us and then in the half court they’re easy to score on. To me, that’s the issue.”
That my friends says a lot. Pretty damning right there.
These are all meaningless stats (other than FG% defense). We play one of the fastest paces in the country last year (1 on Kenpom, 2 on Barttorvik) therefore all of the counting stats will be much higher. I am not arguing that we were good defensively, but we were 72 in Adjusted Def Efficiency for both Kenpom and Barttorvik. I would guess we were about the 72nd best defense in the country last year. We were 112 in Adj DE the year before. For what it is worth Kenpom has us 30 in Adj DE in his preseason rankings. I expect that we will play much faster than last year (we have more than 1 PG) and we play pressure D much more often.Yeah it is easy to score on us. That's no secret.
We've never been a good defensive team under Mike Anderson.
We ranked 293rd in the country in scoring defense, 131 in FG% defense last year.
We've been a good turnover-inducing team.
We ranked 15th last year in steals per game.
And that's how we score. We were 12th in scoring offense in the nation last year.
This is very negative comment and a shot at the coaching staff “but I just don’t think they have any sort of winning identity that they’ve bought into.”
Coach Anderson needs to be taking receipts.

Dude, not what I was saying. In fact, "I am not arguing that we were good defensively..." However, "we were 293 in scoring defense..." is completely meaningless.Dude it's possible to play fast and play good D - see UNLV under Tark.
We're somewhere circling Paul Westhead's Loyola Marymount without Bo, Gathers or Fryer.
So disappointing to read as there is so much truth to the opinion.
