If we don't a top PG in the portal, then hopefully Lewis is a quick learner, and is legit by mid February.
There will be growing pains along the though.
 
I have been watching this circus since mid 80’s. We just came off of a historically successful season that ended with a bad matchup. But gave an old fan base a season to remember considering the years of pain all of of us old school fans have seen. Now we have a solid core returning with a bunch of high level kids coming in and we are losing our shit? What am I missing? This is as good as it gets. Great coach and another run at it next year. Wake up! We have the best coach in the country for another 4 years and that will be hard to duplicate when he leaves.. Enjoy this time. We will compete at the highest level next year in front of a packed MSG while being a top ten team. Get Marilac’s MSG hype video out and jump on board!

When Luis portaled after UMass things seemingly fell through in discussions with our staff and he shopped himself around a bit.

There was some circling back and the rest is history.

Mitchell looking for way more money I suspect though.

Who is losing their shit?

There is a great roster in place. But the most important position in college basketball is guard. Namely point guard. We had 2 last year. 2 high level point guards. And we won 30 games. Right now we have 0.

If anyone thinks the sky is falling they are nuts. But all I see here is dedicated fans pointing out the obvious that the most important position on the floor is empty right now. And if you look at portal position rankings. There aren’t many top flight pgs right now. Someone could enter yes. Tuesday is deadline.

Moose- one of the most grounded posters on this board is nervous about Pitino adding a point guard? The roster with Jackson is the best we have seen since 99 team? Maybe? Do you really think coach will not add an established ball handler to help next year? Someone mentioned earlier- there is no perfect roster but sure beats the hell out of what we saw from the hacks that ran this program into the ground the last few decades. Should we expect to sign the Lee or Clayton each year? Each were pursued by the Dukes and recent national champions of the world. I am excited about this team

I appreciate your kind words. But honestly what worries me is he thinks Sim is a PG. That is my worry.

Rick can walk on water for what he’s done for this program. But I’m still allowed to disagree with him and wonder why this loaded exciting roster can’t get a PG to sign up. Any PG with a brain can rack up assists here.

#147 Barrington Hargess from UC Riverside
#174 Sebastian Akins from Denver

That is whio is left, we won't win with any of them.
I guess if no other top PG comes out then i guess we might as well go with Lewis, he'll be better then the ones i just listed.

Gotta say Hargress intrigues me so much. So does Summerville.

If you pair either of them with Lewis I’d be honestly over the moon.

Fair points- maybe wishful thinking but someone will enter portal and fill this void. It is just such an easy plug and play for a defense and pass first point guard. Rick and Matt’s relationships run deep. It maybe not Lee or Clayton level but enough to this team to go deep

Yeah and he played for Beard at Texas so not a surprise Ole Miss is involved. The competition for top transfer portal kids is super high this year and you would think it will only continue to get tougher and tougher.

I hope we still have a shot at Mitchell (or target someone similar) as we need an athletic, defensive front court player to complement Zuby and Bryce. We should have enough offensive firepower now but need role players and chemistry guys who can do more than score.
