SJU Portal Targets

Two Trilly tidbits:
re: Cliff's Alabama visit: "From what I gather on Cliff, could be a situation where Bama tries to shut it down before he leaves."

re: UNC and Aidoo zoom today: "Doesn’t sound like it went well with aidoo over zoom."
I share the second thing because Aidoo is visiting Baylor this weekend as well. You have to imagine whoever he commits with, the other is out on Cliff -- thus opening a spot.
First time I ever heard something go bad. Did someone have a bad zoom background?

Not to step on a bit, but he somehow managed to play 40 games in the nba over 5 seasons. Quite the accomplishment. I wonder if Rise academy lists him as a notable alum 😀
He did. I do remember the shock when he signed with some clubs for his cup of coffee. And he's still playing. Yet it is Iran. After about 20 other teams.

I mean he's in his early 30's and if he's advising players that's scary. Unless of course he's going to tell them how he completely wasted his talent coming into college and how different things could have been.

Vincent O seems more like a stretch 4 than a 5 like Zuby and Maker are. He is an intriguing prospect to say the least.
Intriguing because to date he is a 5 star player who exhibits only 3 star skills.
Can Pitino get more out of him? Even if so, I see a 15 minute player off the bench and a completely different player than the defensive intimidator Cliff is.
Like some of the prospects we are interviewing, he doesn’t seem to be an offensive threat beyond the circle.

I'm trying so hard to trust the process.

I just really hope Repole has the check book open, we need to OVERPAY to get elite talent with our campus and facilities. Yes Coach is nice, but the rest is...uhhh...well yeah, it's fucking urban Queens commuter school.

This year was supposed to be different from last year. Last year he didn't much time to recruit a whole new team.

This year Rick and staff had a whole year here, but it's still the same thing, it's getting into late April but still no one from the portal has popped.

I haven't opened this thread for 2 weeks because I don't even care. All we read is oh this recruit is coming for an official visit, but after it's over we don't see that we have a commit, it's just on to the next guys.

Starting to not even care anymore, was expect a commit or 2 by now, but whatever.

It could be mid May and some on here would say Patience.

Patience; December will be here when December comes, pretty sure SJU will field a team and then we can all start to decide how things went. It is not a race, I respectfully suggest people stop treating it like one. Remember his strength is player development.
Whether he succeeds or not, I think Pitino is looking for system fits, unlike the bodies he needed last year. I say let the man do his job,

In this new NIL & unlimited transfer world, if a transfer kid
commits (signs something) is it binding for upcoming year,
or can a kid renege if higher offers come later ?
Just like Ledlum and Slazinski last year, they can ask for a release.

I have advised/mentored people starting in my twenty’s. Agents of have started in their 20’s. Brian Cashman became GM of the games most successful baseball franchise in his early 30’s while Billy Beane (the Met’s second first round pick after Daryl Strawberry in 1980 but never made a MLB roster) became the GM of a major league franchise in his mid 30’s. Scott Boras became a full-time baseball agent in his 30’s.

I suggest you log off for about another month and then come back

During is time at USC, Iwuchukwu went into cardiac arrest, and also had lower back surgery for disc herniation

Sounds like a great kid. Thanks for posting these stories RSNC.

Hard to play this game without transparent contracts but if Cliff is trying to get over a mill, and Vince can be had for a third of that, that definitely means we can upgrade somewhere else. I think we're all underestimating Zuby. Guy is a warrior and works hard, he can really be a nice 20-25ish minute player for us this coming year.
I think with Zuby and Vince we’d be fine at the five spot. Maker eventually gives you a few quality minutes as the season goes on and we’re good.

If the total of your bigs is Zuby and Maker we would have trouble competing in the A10 this year. If you get 25 minutes total out of Maker in league play I will be pleasantly surprised

With this addition, we would have three offensively challenged centers. Perhaps Zuby will take a big step forward but not terribly excited about the prospect of this addition.

Agreed. This move doesn’t make sense to me if it happens.

I assume this would be an upside play. Former 5-star who only scored 5 ppg in 15 mpg. Center would be by committee with Zuby getting some time at PF. Scoring and NIL $ would be focused at other positions, hopefully Roach, a SG, along with incumbents Luis, Wilcher, and Ledlum if he returns,

Again, Vince is a different type of player then Cliff and Zuby. More of a stretch 4 who can handle the ball somewhat and possesses a decent mid range game.
