When Happy Is Happy with Mitchell I’m Happy. To be fair I was ehhhhhh but Happy in a 10 minute call sold me on him plus he knows a hell of a lot more scouting than me
And Hopkins is a wildcard there with his long arms, strength, coordination. Don’t think he’ll win any races, though. Not sure there would be a better defensive front court combo in college than Mitchell/Prey/Zuby. Talk about switchability...
Awesome job!IAN JACKSON IS THE PERFECT POINT GUARD FOR ST. JOHN’S.
When the position of PG comes to mind, traditionally people think, great court vision, great handle, great passer, very good defender, good or at least adequate shooter. Well traditional doesn’t really cut it anymore as the great point guards of today must have the vision, handle and passing but must be a prolific scorer when called upon to do so.
Most recently, consider Mr. Clayton of Florida. Does Florida win without his scoring ability? His three point shooting threat alone brought defenders all the way out and opened up lanes for his bigs and for his penetration. Those who watched the Gators realize that none of their bigs forwards) were super talented or could create their own offense, it was their opponents focus on Clayton much of the time that made them look better then they are.
Think back to this year’s Johnny’s team. Kadary’s strengths were his size, handle and penetration. If Kadary had a legit long range outside shot where defenders would actually have to guard him more out there, how much more open would Zuby have been inside and how many more opportunities would Kadary have had to penetrate?
As for Ian, when given the opportunity he has shown to be a great passer, knows the game and gives us that prolific scorer that will open up the court more for others and with Pitino’s direction may go on to be one of the best point guards the school has ever known.
Yup, the days of the Frank Alagia prototype point guards are long gone. The required skill set is greater and I firmly believe we have the right guy for the job.
I don't want to be greedy and think we'd still get Dillon Mitchell due to $$$-limits if Boogie is indeed in play, but, hey, let the good times roll! Not sure there would be a better defensive front court combo in college than Mitchell/Prey/Zuby. Talk about switchability...

I think Boogie would be a push your chips to the middle type move. At that point, we are literally Vegas favorites to win it all. How many chances do you get at that?I don't want to be greedy and think we'd still get Dillon Mitchell due to $$$-limits if Boogie is indeed in play, but, hey, let the good times roll!
We'll see how it plays out but I think Hopkins signed on knowing how Pitino likes his teams to play. Though he will never be Usain Bolt out there I think he slims down this offseason and comes in ready to go. But regardless the flexibility Mitchell will add on the defensive end is hugeAnd Hopkins is a wildcard there with his long arms, strength, coordination. Don’t think he’ll win any races, though.
Me too. Don’t leave me out. I get it. You’re making me stomp my feet. He did play the cop in that classic Christmas video. Cheers.Mase gets it
My main problem was that it wasn't catchy, and could easily be changed to #MeagerHaul by detractors if things went sideways.Don’t shoot the messenger as I’m not in the social media cesspool and had nothing to do with this, but kinda feel like it was a #megahaul after all.
