SJU JUCO Targets

Wow that is unusually early for a JUCO to pop. We don't really have that luxury being so close with some elite guards. You don't want to scare off a kid like Briscoe for any JUCO regardless of the talent.

Lavin must recruit both quantity and quality this recruiting cycle since St.John's will have at least 6 available scholarships this year.

Because Briscoe is believed by many to be a spring commit Lavin cannot hold off seeking commitments from other recruits.

Given the fact that over one third of the top 100 seniors high schoolers in this 2015 cycle have already committed then it is likely that Lavin will be required to recruit in the secondary market for junior college and transfers again as he did last season when he struck out for his top high school recruits in the 2014 cycle.

Have you given any thought to applying for now vacant personal assistant position to work side by side with Lavin Otis?

Exactly. He makes assertions like he is part of the staff, “He must do this…” or “He has to do this…” or “He can’t stuck like last year…”

Oh really, he does? Says who? Chris Monasch? His analysis assumes all of these factors and then draws the most ridiculous anti-SJU conclusion from it before anything has occurred and then insists he is a good fan who is just voicing his “opinion.” So almost 1/3 of top 100 recruits have committed WHICH ALSO means that more than 2/3 have NOT committed.

The recruiting period is over is not true. Recruiting goes on all the time and kids for 2015 can sign thru next spring and summer. Evaluation may have ended for the summer but recruiting continues and kids signing does not start until November. He seems to confuse those as well evidently in his attempt to show how committed a fan he is.

Fordham.....take a few deep breaths. Otis really seems to get to you. It's okay if someone has a different opinion. Also, Steve Lavin is a big boy with a multi million dollar contract. He can take the fan's critical analysis. He knows it is part of the job.

He shouldn't flatter himself. He gets to me about as much as a comic book does.

He is about as profound as one as well.

Lets stick to the point. Lavin has not gotten the team to the NCAA with his recruits. Hopefully we make it this year. Getting to the NIT just does not give fans confidence.

He isn't flattering himself he is stating facts, facts that are unpleasant to read and accept but facts nonetheless.
He obviously does get to you as you go out of your way to respond and attempt to belittle him where it is not called for. If you have nothing pleasant to say about Otis or any other posters whose views you disagree with I strongly suggest you refrain from commenting , avoid the personal digs or just avoid their posts as many posters do with yours.
Thank you for your cooperation.

If Otis' primary complaint about the present staff is their recruiting prowess then I'd suggest Fordham stop reading him altogether. Plenty of critics have a far better grasp of the programs issues.

Geez some of you guys are unbelievable. Free speech for me but not for thee…

Where in the world was I ever out of line with him? Asking valid questions to which he has no response because what I am implying is 100% correct is not belittling anyone.

If he thinks he has the intellectual capacity to post about certain things then he should be able to defend himself in much the same way.

I am sorry I don’t think I have gone too far at all, in fact if anything I have been rather tame. And I can tell you others have been much worse.

Bingo!
As for Otis, he is merely pointing out the obvious as the class of 14 is considered by many a bust with little scoring talent added to the front line and the losing of momentum with a program changer with Diallo. But you have to be able to utilize your talent on the court and our staff has not blended their recruits well into a system. This will be a break or make season for coach Lavin and, I digress, even more so for the pompous Dr. Masur and our sunshine boy AD.

Otis and Fordham swapping posts is kind of like switching back and forth between Fox and MSNBC; completely different sides of the spectrum with not a modicum of objectivity on either side.

Just for the record Fordham most definitely is Fox and not MSNBC :)

Nothing was better than the Bobre-RJRJR arguements

And they were usually just about the validity of a vertical as a predictor of basketball success. ;p

Very strong rumor it was like Darth Vader-Luke Skywalker relatively speaking. Read between the lines

@JucoRecruiting: Deshawn Freeman (6'7/F/2015) of Hutchinson CC will take an official visit to Arizona State from September 25-27.

SJU competing with ASU for Tanksley E & Freeman apparently.
