SJ media footprint

By the way, press conference and other musings are still not on redstormsports.com in the video panel. It's taking so long that they may not have it up by the time we play Rutgers and they will be 2 games behind. What gives?

They never put up the press conference from road games because Lavin doesn't usually have a formal sit-down press conference after road games.

Really? That's weird...they usually have those portable pull down screens with the team logo and sponsors on it and allow the media to ask questions. I realize local journalists don't fly with the team, but couldn't ESPNU at least have had some reporters get a quick reaction?

Instead of asking people here who don't know ask them!

Wouldn't even know who to contact, and obviously they aren't going to listen to some grad student telling them how to do their job. Even the suggestion to contact someone to get a mere press conference and player reactions shows how slow they are with this! I'm so used to watching games and watching reactions and press conferences after. It's usually a no brainer. Maybe I'm just being picky, but damn upload the damn thing already it takes 5 minutes!

I told you before to tweet them. They answer tweets. Don't they publish post game quotes. Isn't that the same as a video?

Besides yes you being picky.

I have no desire to engage in discussion about what my basketball background is but I must respond to a recent question & inuendo & I will not respond further since it is a waste of time. I attended SJU from 1950-1954.
I was part of the intramural team that won the intramural champioship in my freshman year at old DeGray. It was a league filled with many of the CYO kids who were on high school teams but did not get scholarships to college,. I did not play after that since I was pre-med & classes interferred. I still have my intramural medal & showed it to Prof. Sciame of SJu when he visited Savannah a few years ago.
I attended SJU games fron 1948 up until this year in Charleston. I went to St. Augustine's High School in B'klyn & we got cheap tickets for the Garden. I was at many Big East Championships over the years, at the Final Four in Lexington & at Tenn. for Elite 8 in 1999 when Barkley was fouled in last play. My next door neighbor, Johnny Orr, coach of Michigan when they won NCAA, agreed that Barkley was fouled & should have gone to the line He also thought that SJU had the best team that year. He seemed to think that I had a reasonable knowledge base re. the sport.
Pete Brennan, All- american at North Carolina, recruited from my high school to play for Frank McGuire's first team at N.C. He was part of team that beat Wilt in the NCAA Finals. I used to play against him in Gym Class. he sat next to me in my senior year.
Moved to Savannah in 1969 & coached "YMCA'" teams & won a city championship, another "Y" championship & then moved to private school league where I finished 2nd at least 4 times in 5 years with 7th & 8th grade teams. Smaller school with smaller enrollment but i was able to lead fight to change league to two divisions composed of small & larger schools. Incidentally, all my 4 sons were high school varsity starters playing for a private school in a public school league. I will not comment on the racial mix but I think "enough said". Kids in this league have moved on to major teams like Villanoa, Colorado, Alabama & even Cornell.
It did not take a genius to see that Cashmere Wright could play when he was a kid. I hope I answered my detractors who asked "what do I know about basketball".
Didn't take a genius to see that Wright was a Div. I prospect.

good reply nice resume! good job helping the johnnys find a star appreciate your help keep it up!

happy new yr!

Amazing what a win will do for good press. I Iive in Savannah, Ga. Photo in Sunday's Savannah's News Press depicting Obekpa fouling Wright's drive to the basket. Admittedly, Wright from Savannah but still nice to see photo of us in sports section here.
As an aside, I called St. John's a few years ago re. Wright & was told by Asst. Coach that Norm wanted every inquiry answered but forget recruiting kids here since they all stayed in the south. I was treated like I was stup[id despite fact that I had an open line to Rutledge & Lou in the past regarding recruits in Ga.. Lou & Ron actually asked me to look at some possible recruits & send tapes to them. Guess that Cincy is south of Masn Dixon line. I never called again! Enough said. Incidentally, Savannah has 2 of highest ranking five teams in the state this year & Postell came from Ga.

Well what is your bball background? Why should college coaches listen to you? What made you so special?

Welcome to the board Mike Francessa
