Although I am hoping we can finish up 9-2 and be in the running for an at large bid. I think we should be hoping for a sixth place finish that will get us in the NIT and allow us to make a three game run in the Big East tournament for the automatic berth. Go Redmen!

I think 7-4 is more realistic, under the best circumstances.

That brings us to 9-9, 19-12 going into the BET.

Is 20 the magic # for the NCAAs? Probably 21.

They definitely have their work cut out for them...it's going to be real tough. But, at least today they showed a strong pulse.

Butler is 1-7 in the league. Let's not get too excited.

The magic number for the NCAAs is to finish in the top 3 in the league or win the Big East Tournament. As I've said all year, this is a 3 bid league, tops. If you win 21 games and are in 4th or 5th in the league, you will be in the NIT.

We aren't finishing in the top 3 or winning 21 games, so it's moot anyway. Maybe we get on a run and win the league tournament, otherwise, hope for the NIT.

I think if the season ended now, the conference might get four bids.

IF Mr. Lavin uses Branch as He did against Butler, maybe we could live up to his promises .Branch had 8 assists last night and he gives us a half court game.Mr.Lavin finally used a time out to change momentum when they where within 7 points. Please don't call time outs when we just made a basket and have the momentum.

Butler is 1-7 because they lost to SJU yesterday. It was Butler's worst home loss in 20 years, to my knowledge. I think we'd all be happy with 3-5 in conference, but this is no small task, and if we could beat Creighton would be a real reason to think the rest of the season is looking up. As it stands, the away loss to DePaul and the home loss to Providence will bite them if the team makes a turnaround.

As it stands, ..... the home loss to Providence will bite them if the team makes a turnaround.

Providence College is a solid team. In case you haven't looked at the standings lately Providence has an overall record of 15 & 5 and is tied for 3d place in the Big East with a 5 & 2 record.

No one should underestimate Ed Cooley.

Right now, Creighton, Nova ,Providence look like the class of the league.. The PC, DePAUL losses will haunt us the rest of the season.. A split with Creighton would be huge, as would Nova and payback against the Friars and DePaul.

It's a dream but, possible.

Cotton is having the kind of season that Hardy had for us.. He's the best guard in the BE right now

They are a much tougher team with Cotton running the point then they were with Council. Ive yet to see anyone that can stay in front of him. And they are doing all this without their supposed best player in Dunn. Our loss to them still stings

I predict two losses to Creighton and one more loss to Nova, To beat X (home) and Providence (there) would be an accomplishment. With 8 conference losses SJU would likely finish in fifth place and no signature wins. That's not going to make the NCAA tourny, and maybe not the NIT. I suppose we can hope X or Providence falls apart.

I'm predicting a sweep of Marquette, a split between Creighton (yes, you read correctly), and wins against PC, SH, Butler, DePaul and Xavier. That is 10-8, which is good enough for the NCAAs IMO.

If Creighton is a pipe-dream, that still has them at 9-9. That's a BET win or two away from the dance.

Of course this is assuming that the stars have finally aligned for us and Coach has finally decided to use the correct lineup regularly. If we go back to seeing a certain backup guard get 27 mpg and two other much better guards get 24 mpg, then we are toast.

Knew that. We had that game won, and as such, we'd have been 3-4, and they 4-3. You have to hold serve at home, and all in all is out worst conference loss so far.

Lets just beat Creighton on the 28th. They're 17-3 so this is another opportunity for a signature win. If we get this win on the road, there would be no other choice but to start taking this team seriously.

These two losses are especially hard to digest as we had these games won

What's your point, that they were "only" 1-6 before we played them?

It's nice to have a blowout win on the road against a limited team. I just don't see how you project from that to some sort of miraculous turnaround. Maybe it will happen, but the next good team we beat will be the first good team we beat.

Butler isn't as bad as their record. They just got unlucky. I think they lost 5 overtime games, including Villinova. We actually looked good. Much better ball movement,Played team BB and won on the road by 17 points. Unlike The SH game , I feel good after this game, I think they turned a corner. But, I am not saying they will win Tues.We dug ourselves into such a hole that we have our work cut out for us.

I don't expect anyone to read all of my posts, and I am not expecting, or predicting a radical turnaround. I think the team overall played better than an 0-5 team, and Butler with all of their overtime losses, is a tough out for anyone. At home, I'd agree with you, but on the road, this puts us in position to sweep the season series. With only home losses to Providence and Villanova that's an important aspect of inching towards .500, if they are going to have a chance at that. At this point .500 would be a radical turnaround.
