Sidiki Johnson, PF

Like I have no problems with him coming aboard IF he's not a head-case and is willing to buy in. Don't want a rotten apple here. Now, guys on JJ like Choz and KOb who are connected say "no way". That's pretty emphatic. I'll leave it up to the staff to figure it out, but he would certainly help our roster.  In addition, I don't want his recruitment to hurt the recruitment of other young players like Gathers that we're after. Too valuable to lose a guy like Gathers if we can land him.

Anyone know what he was suspended from AZ for?

We of all people should be extra cautious with a kid who has some baggage....

Update today on Rivals states that we are a possible destination.

RedStormReport.com has exclusively learned that the Red Storm, who itself has suffered some recruiting setbacks lately, is in serious play for the dynamic freshman.

Biggest point of what you linked there was that they plan to petition for hardship transfer so he can be eligible 1st semester next season.

Interesting. Would have all his eligibility. Some on JJ say he's a lock for Iona but I don't know why he'd do that. He's a higher level D1 talent and IF SJU is interested, it would be a great fit for him. We need frontcourt help, and it's a lot different playing in the Garden against legit competition than at Iona, and I know they're quitter good this year.

I still believe he could come in and compete for the starting 5-spot at SJU and not interfere with SJU's recruitment of Gathers, Sampson, Obekpa, Pelle. It would be Sidiki and God's Gift alone at the C spot with GG being a senior. Sidiki wold have little PT problems to contend with. I mean, he'd still have to compete for minutes over next few years, but he'd get plenty of time.

Playing time is most likely his problem in Arizona.

If the NCAA actually worked quickly and he was deserving of a hardship waiver, could he theoretically show up and play in the same game that Garrett makes his debut?

SOME on JJ? LOL!
There is ONE guy there named Baldi who I think is a moderator who is an Iona fan and has basically turned JJ into a quasi-Iona fan board. I am not sure if Iona has one of there own. LOL!

Like MoMo, I am sure Johnson would prefer SJ but he may be more trouble than what he is worth according to some. I will reserve judgment until SJ makes an official offer.

Moose, what would be the basis of a hardship transfer?

I believe he's going to claim it was hard to ship his stuff back to NY after the CvC final.

No idea but I'm sure like Austour said, staying behind after the CVC would be the starting point.

That guys absolutely kills that board...It's bad enough that he's a borderline troll but it's made worse by the fact that he's a mod there...Absolutely terrible and I'm sure that he's a bit of a traffic killer for that site
