@Seton Hall, Wed. Jan. 27, 7pm, FS1 & 570 AM

Without Sima, I can't see us being able to contain Delgado.

The only hope for this one is that Seton Hall has a reputation for playing to the level of their opponent.

I think they are going to want to bury us. Hope it's not a repeat of the Fordham game.

Even though having more big east teams in the NCAA tournament is good and all that, I'd get much pleasure from seeing us ruin seton halls resume

Have always hated SH, and this season their fans are particularly obnoxious about their superiority over St. John's. If we have one BE victory in us this season (hoping maybe two), I'm hoping it (both) comes (come) against them and we crush their hopes of an an NCAA bid. It would make my season.

While I don't "like" any other teams, the two I "hate" the most are Georgetown and Syracuse

I don't hate Georgetown much at all anymore. Their fans on every forum I go on are not that bad. And we've played well against them of late so that takes some of the hatred away.

I hate Seton Hall because the kids they have are annoying and their slimy coach.

Don't count on it. They play five sophs who penetrate and hit the boards. Rodriquez is having a super season and will hurt us on his drives and the boards. Whitehead is more under control this year. And Gordon, a transfer from the Univ. of Mass.,is a bull. In short add Carrington who has a better three point shot this year and will pick up fouls on his penetration. Going to be a difficult game for us, everyone will need to hit the boards.

Put Mussini on him, maybe he'd draw 4 offensive fouls quickly.

I think most of their fans want to beat us over beating other BE schools. Although that hardly goes for all of them. I think the rivalry is more about the competition for recent recruits than the close location.

Very depressing spread, but:

With the recruits this staff is going to bring in over the next 3 years, we will look back at this spread and have a good laugh one day.

Two years down the road this staff against the Kevin Willard regime is going to be a mismatch. Slice is going to eat their lunch recruiting New Jersey the next few years.

Maybe they can coax tiny back the next time Lincoln has another McD All American B)

19 point dogs.

I know we have not earned the benefit of the doubt, but I think that number is a bit high.

Actually, with the exception of the Georgetown game, we've either covered, or been close to the spread, in every Big East contest, so they won't be taking us off the board anytime soon (which is what I feared a few weeks ago).

Bobby Wanzer dies at 94; Hall of Famer starred for Rochester Royals And Seton Hall

Basketball Hall of Famer Bobby Wanzer died Saturday at the age of 94.

Wanzer played all nine of his NBA seasons with the Rochester Royals (now the Sacramento Kings). He helped guide the team to the 1951 NBA championship as part of a noted backcourt with fellow Hall of Famer Bob Davies.

In the Finals, Wanzer averaged 12.4 points and 3.6 assists and scored 13 points in the decisive Game 7 to help beat the New York Knicks.

A five-time All-Star, he averaged 12.2 points and 3.2 assists in 568 regular-season games. He also was a career .802 free throw shooter and led the NBA in the 1951-52 season by converting .904 percent of his attempts. He was the first player in NBA history to make better than 90 percent of his free throw attempts in a season.

He was a player-coach with the Royals from 1955 to 1958, finishing with a 98-136 record.

Bobby Wanzer, who was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame in 1987, died Saturday at the age of 94.

"As one of the first NBA players to shoot over 90 percent from the free throw line, Bobby Wanzer's incredible work ethic was on display each time he took the floor," John L. Doleva, president and CEO of the Basketball Hall of Fame, said in a statement. "He was a complete player and an even better teammate. He will be truly missed by the basketball community."

Wanzer was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1987.

After his playing career, Wanzer started St. John Fisher College's basketball program and coached the team from 1963 to '87. He finished with a 312-245 record at the school.

Born in Brooklyn in 1921, Wanzer played for New York City championship teams at Benjamin Franklin High School in Harlem in 1940 and 1941 before enrolling at Seton Hall. He was a standout for the Pirates for two seasons, 1942-43 and 1946-47, his college career interrupted for three years while he served in the Marines during World War II. In those two seasons, Wanzer led the Pirates to a 40-5 record, including what was then a program-best 24 wins in 1946-47, when he led the team in scoring at 11.6 points per game.

He returned to the school after World War II ended and Davies, his future teammate, was his coach.

Wanzer is survived by a son and two daughters; a sister, Marilyn Ulrich; and five grandchildren and a great-granddaughter.

His wife, Nina, died in 2005. A funeral mass was scheduled for Wednesday morning at Church of the Transfiguration in Pittsford.

Bobby Wanzer dies at 94; Hall of Famer starred for Rochester Royals And Seton Hall..............

Once upon a time I played in several pick up games with "The Wanz". He was 50+ and I was 18+/- years old.

At age 50 Wanz had lost several steps but he could keep up with kids less than half his age. He was a sneaky player who was not shy about pushing, shoving and hooking in the pick up games.

What I remember most about Bobby Wanzer was just how humble he was about his NBA successes. Bobby Wanzer was a good guy.

19 point dogs.

I do not pay ant attention to point spreads under our condition this yr . WE knew from game one that we would not win many games or for that matter not even been competitive in most SO it is what it is this yr just rooting for the team to do the best they can and hopefully next yr brings respect
