37% at STJ. Good, not great, but as clutch as they come. Made the ones that mattered in the games that mattered. Major reason those teams won 53 games in 2 years.
Nothing sums up what it is like being a ST John's fan better than the Elite 8 team. For my money by far the most enjoyable team we have had since I have been a fan. Coached by what is by far the most hated man by majority of fan base.

He stressed rebounding, defense, and strong players. Shows you how far that goes in college basketball. A few of his teams lead the country in rebounding. He was a below average X's and O's guy though.

I think he could out this team in the Elite Eight as well. This squad will live and die with rebounding...it scares me that Mullin doesn't seem to emphasize this.

Everyone who posts here has more insight into SJU basketball then Seth Greenburg.

True story!
In Post today said ST John's struggled last year because of chemistry and bad shot selection. Seemed to lay some blame on Ponds. Also kind of questioned if Ponds and Heron will work because both volume shooters.
This is what Tarik Owens’ father alluded to when it was announced Heron transferred not St. John’s. Not that I actually believe it because he had his wn agenda and jealousy is an ugly thing.

No question that the staff will have to have a big year in order for the team to do the same. Lots of talent and interchangeable parts at the 2 and 3, but no pure PG, one basketball to go around for 2 players in their final audition for the NBA, and no inside game to speak of. Plus, no pure shooters, as Simon, Ponds, and Heron are all at their best as slashers. GS has the Splash Brothers, we have the Slash Brothers.
I think Heron will surprise on the perimeter and nail more threes than anticipated. He has really worked on that.
Limited games on which to base this. But, MH probably our most complete player and, dare I say, perhaps our best player. Ponds more creative, but Heron appears to be more reliable.

Bootsy hit some big threes and that is what he is known for. The highlight being the 40 he scorched Duke for. But I've said this before that I think his real skill was positioning. He was pretty brilliant and shot over 50% from 2 a lot of that right under the basket.
Brilliant is an apt discussion. Scored inside and out.
