Serby -- Hey Moe; Don't go pro

The Cook thing is eerily similar to this situations. Yes, two completely different types of players, and although, I know neither of them personally, seem like two completely different types of people. But, both are exemplary players at their respective positions and both played on team that finished their seasons with losing records. Were the situations different? Much. But, with roster spots at a premium in the NBA, no lottery team is going to take a chance on such an unpolished player. Is he immensely talented? Of course, we all know that. Was he incredibly inconsistent? Yes, and the scouts all know that. He'll be a great player one day.

I fully expect him to go pro after next season.

Cook hated Jarvis and left. That obviously isn't the case with Moe and Lavin.

I bolded the important parts of my quotes to point out to you that I understand that. The only point of my post is that they are similar in that they both played on team's with losing records. That alone is a big reason he shouldn't go to the draft. I don't even think he's a 1st round pick for sure. It's gonna be a pretty deep draft with players that are NBA ready, now.
Unlike Cook, Moe seems to have a strong support system around him, and a coach that genuinely cares about his well being.

I wasn't trying to say you didn't understand that.
Just pointing out a fact specifically that aided your post and wasn't mentioned.

Moose, sorry if i got that twisted. Besides the obvious reason to hate Jarvis, I always felt he pushed both Barkley and Cook out the door to avoid any sort of NCAA's possible investigation.

Nothing with Cook and violations. Cook just couldnt stand Jarvis. Barkley left because the NCAA was all over us.

cook hated st john's. he was bound for north carolina and they turned him away...so he went to his low second choice. with his friend darius miles playing in the nba while he's getting his butt kicked here...it was a no brainer to leave.

his hatred of jarvis came after jarvis told him he should stay. he thought jarvis was using him and, instead, he listened to the parasites who caught his ear.

i'm always in jarvis' corner...but in the real world, i can't remember any player who improved during their tenure here. after four years, cook probably would have been a late first round pick at best. he really didn't hurt himself by leaving....he hurt st john's.

after the original point shaving scandals of the late 40s early 50s, the midwesterners in the ncaa have always made it tough for new york to succeed. thus the harassment of barkley.

way to go auburn.

Anyone know Moe's DOB. I either read or saw an interview of Moe's mother in which she said it was "his decision he's 18 years old. Was she referring to his actual age or referencing he is an adult

I'm guessing both. He's 18, and she feels like he's old enough to make up his own mind.

All coaches use players. That's how they make their living and that's how universities make money. Cook just barely missed the first round as it was. It's illogical to say he would only have improved a couple of spots after a few more years. He was a jumpshot away from being real good and there are still very few better passers in the league.
He was a casualty of the system and Jarvis' ineptitude. I would have loved to see him playing somewhere as a dynamite backup tempo changer. He was a master of the lost art of passing the ball. NC didn't want him because he was chopped liver.
