Let's keep the discussions relating to this evening's selections here.
Thanks.

My prediction: Dayton. Second to last team in.

A couple weeks ago I wouldn't have been happy with Dayton, but at this point I'd much prefer that to the NIT (which I wouldn't care about even if we won the whole thing).

Just read an article posted on the Miami Herald website

Lunardi has us as Last Four In

Palm has us as Last Four In

Schwab has us as First Four Out

It appears five teams are competing for four available bids. Those five teams are:
TCU
Arizona State
Temple
St. John's
NC State

A good argument can be made for all 5.
Of course hoping we are in it

It’s easy to say out. I would like to hear their last 4 in if they say out. No way can I see NC State ahead of us. It lends more credence if they provide their last 4 in and out. I feel as if it’s Dayton and at this point would be happy being how we ended the year. At least Dayton provides a chance which is probably more than we deserve.

I see it as a coin flip 50/50. I don't think we'll make it because we can never seem to have anything good come our way. However I believe we're definitely deserving of a spot at least in Dayton.

Bracket Matrix has updated again. We are now tied with Temple as the last two teams in. NC State still first team out.

Us and Temple: 96/134 brackets
NC State: 58/134 brackets

Keep in mind too, a lot of teams ahead of us like Ohio St, Arizona St, TCU, Florida, etc aren't on 134/134 brackets.

Kellogg said replace SJU with UNC Greensboro

My fear is the committee is going to reward Belmont and/or UNC Greensboro. What are your thoughts on that?

As Mase said in another thread, there are three very concerning things in our resume.

1. 8-10 record in conference
2. 7th place in conference
3. 70+ NET

Hopefully we can overcome those but would understand if we didn’t.

I actually do think one of the two gets in (not both), however I don't think it'll be at our expense.

The first two don't mean anything to the committee, especially when you consider that several other bubble teams did worse in conference. However, the NET is very concerning and the only reason we're on the bubble. Had RPI still been used this year, we'd be in easily.

The 70 NET is killing us but I still think a win is a win and a loss is a loss. Winning or losing by a certain margin should mean nothing. We killed Marquette and they killed us.

Are they going to look at RPI at all? Why is it still being recorded if they are not going to look at it at all. NET is being used as the primary but I can’t see them totally ignoring the RPI. You would think the committee would take the RPI into consideration the same way they would using all other pertinent factors in conjunction with the NET.

The RPI formula is available to the public, so websites still update it. It actually was still on team sheets (that the committee uses to evaluate teams), but as of a month or two ago they completely removed it. It won't be a factor, sadly. I don't know why they don't just use both. NET is far too margins driven when winning/losing should be more important.
