Sedee to transfer

Hope the NBA teams don't give eye tests or he will be in trouble. :silly:

Obviously Ponds is not much of a talent evaluator.

Maybe someone can do one of those roster tracking threads so we can get a snapshot of what we've got and what we don't?
This is what it looks like right now...

1. Williams / McGriff / Open
2. Heron / Wright
3. Open (LJ) / Caraher
4. Open / Earlington / Open
5. Steere / Roberts / Open

-Need to go out and find probably 1 more guard... a combo guy that can play some PG and SG, preferably a grad transfer that could start right away.
-Need a combo forward... a stretch 4 type player.
-Need 1 more big man
-Need another SF if LJ leaves.
Thanks MP. Yup, 4 to fill 'presently', 5, if Figgy leaves which looks very possible.
I see TJC follows Javon Franklin, 6'6" F. The guy sustained a broken leg last November, missed most of the season, and may have 3 to play. Would be an interesting 'get' this late.
As far as the second guard, maybe Dorsey, a Grad Transfer guard, known well by our Staff (per MP) may be possible?
I sense our replacements will be pulled from CMA's and TJC's past lists.
Lol.

Team still needs a lot more length, athleticism and size. Need a legitimate banger that has hands and can run the floor well. A legitimate banger to replace Keita - one who rebounds, will be a good start. If he has some back to the basket game with good hands then MAJOR upgrade.
Also need a lot more length at guard otherwise we're looking at getting shot over (again) at will by opponents. This will be even tougher without Simon to clean up the mess defensively. Also Simon and Ponds were our primary rebounders. Who is rebounding now and getting the ball out for fast paced basketball that we are expecting? Mcgriff's size and lack of rebounding is why this "big" is so vital.

Great points, Paul.
Not too many 'long' guards left, which is probably why CMA/TJC have reached out to Kadary Richmond, a 6'5" SG who can also play some PG. G*town Oregon, St. Louis, PSU, and Seton Hall have all just reached out to him this week. Dorsey is a 6'4" SG Grad T from Tenn State who also plays some PG.
Chris Maiduh becomes a very key late target with Keita's departure.
Also, there's Andre Allen, a 6'8" JUCO PF, great rebounder, still out there, and Mahamadou Diawara, a lengthy and athletic PF, also known to our Staff.
We shall see.

You took the words right out of my mouth, Paultz
I guess the old adage that great minds think alike must be true!!

It's the stuff between the ears that was the major problem with Keita

Really think we need a JUCO or grad transfer PG with some size to share the position with Jonathan M in 19. IMHO would be unfair and a mistake to ask Greg Williams to play PG in Big East this year; it's not a position he's played at all. Played as a wing/SG, I expect Greg to show lots of improvement this year with increased playing time.

Williams is made for MA's style of play.

I agree, NCJ. It would be a mistake to expose Greg Jr to PG this year in BEC play.
Thinking and hoping Staff is looking for and will find a capable PG/G to play the point this year (best possible at this late date) and that would also allow McGriff to wade into the surf, not dive from a cliff.
Lol.

He played it a little bit this year, mostly at garbage time.

I am really looking for a few grad transfers and a Juco.

This must have been what the previous staff saw because they raved about him to. Injury or not, I didn't see a glimpse of it last season.

Despite Marillac's claim, all knee surgeries, even a meniscus tear, are different. He could have been sore, in pain, lost flexibility and range of motion, and even have some arthritis in his knee. So, yea, I'll go with that, especially after Ponds verified what staff had thought.

Perfect example as to why I don't follow this recruiting stuff carefully and reserve judgment until we've gotten a look at a guy for a few games of league play at least.

The STAFF told me Keita was a BEast, and they watch him practice for more than a year. How could they be that far off?

I'm reminded of how people on here swooned over Freudenberg after watching his videos, and pondered whether he would be the next Detlef Schrempf or Dirk Nowitzki. Turned out to be more Max Hooper than either, and the hype on Max was considerable on here as well.

Having to sit out again, my guess is that there's a strong possibility he never plays another college game.
It wasn't just the fans WRT Freudenberg. Fraschilla raved about him, and he knows the international players better then anyone.

I think Freudenberg suffered from culture shock, more then anything.[/quote

Exactly Moose.

Don’t let the door hit you on the way out. And have fun sitting out another year for no reason.

Bye, bye!

Appreciate Keita's efforts here, but to be honest he will go down as the softest big man I've ever seen at his tremendous size. Real shame...didn't have that killer instinct and played looking scared half the time.

I agree he was very disappointing. Also disappointing was that the former staff thought he could play at the next level. Sheesh.

In any event, no need to trash him on his way out. He maybe didn't produce as we wanted but he came here, tried to play, was hurt and the rest is history. Wishing him good luck at his next stop.

I'm curious, and not just about you, but others. What did Keita do as a person to warrant harsh commentary? There must be something other than getting injured and not contributing much. I just never heard anything.
