Season Tickets

Haven’t they used priority points in the past for this? Seems to make sense that they would stick with that approach, no?
Yes, but with STHs having been able to increase qty this year, they may not get as far down the list before SJ allocation is exhausted. That was one of my concerns re: the decision to allow season tix increase. Not sure what the per school allocation is but assume it has to be something less than 19K/11.

It's not a lot per school and yes they have gone by priority points, purchase limited to the number of your season tickets, and I assume that will remain the plan. Which yes means the cutoff will be sooner on the priority points list than in years past if my assumption is correct.

The overwhelming majority of STH will not get tix via SJ to the BET.

Safer bet is to explore other avenues to obtain your tix.
Prior to Pitino's arrival, there was not much demand from our fans to buy BET tix. We had not made it to the semis in a very long time and you have have to buy all sessions. I'd have to check but I think my BET pkg cost about 50% of what my full season ticket cost.

So yes, the demand the last two seasons was way greater than supply, and likely will be this year, but most of the demand comes from purchasers who had never/rarely bought the entire strip before.

Prior to Pitino, getting affordable single game tix to Wednesday or Thursday sessions not much of a problem in the after market. Playing Friday was just a pipedream.

Semifinal tix can go through the roof, but since there are lots of people dumping finals tix after their team gets eliminated, it becomes supply and demand.

There is definitely a subset of our fans who buy tickets to the BET and go to all the games regardless of St. John's level of participation. I am pretty sure the school distributed its entire allocation of BET tickets (which isn't much - I have some memory of it being something like 600 tickets but I could be wrong) every year.

Given that some higher-priority-point season ticket holders increased their ticket numbers I suspect that some folks who qualified in the past will now be squeezed out, though.

Hopefully the tickets of the folks who are high enough on the list to qualify for school-issued BET seats and aren't interested in watching good basketball generally if their team isn't in it won't have a chance to land on the secondary market because St. John's will be in the final...

Yep, makes sense. I moved myself up the points list with the BET in mind, so hoping that worked, but I get yours and Mike’s point that the 6 ticket max may be a problem.

I'm not buying season tickets this year, have a 2 year old with another one on the way in December, but the resale ticket prices on StubHub are insane.

Minimum $106 (without fees/taxes) for Michigan exhibition... exhibition. Alabama minimum is $264, and that's the only other MSG game listed for now.

I get ticket prices have gone up everywhere, last year we went to Bahamas and the second NCAAT game, but this season may crank them to another level. Just spent all day at the US Open a few couple weeks ago for mixed doubles (access to 6 matches, which included nearly all of the top Singles players) for only $35. Also went to a Mets game which was pretty cheap and got a few free Big Bird bobbleheads.

Sky high demand is certainly a good problem for the school to have, but not ideal for many fans. My friend will be in the city the weekend of the exhibition game, but no way he's spending that kind of money to go. I'll still go to some MSG games (before the baby is due), but hoping the prices come down some. It appears not every ticket is available, so I'm thinking they'll drop in price closer to November.

For anyone who can attend most games this season, absolutely the correct call to buy season tickets.

Only Michigan is officially on sale, and that's $78.

Can't gauge ticket prices until much closer to the season after things are on sale to the public for a couple of weeks. The re-sell places like StubHub are just people trying to take advantage of people.

Thanks, I'm seeing now the official Michigan prices on Ticketmaster. Still though, I doubt my friend would want to spend $78 (+fees/taxes) to go with me to an exhibition. He's not a Johnnies fan but interested in going to MSG one day.

I agree about the latter, think the prices have to come down significantly (for Alabama) once more are available. I spent under $100 per ticket vs. #1 UConn during Pitino's first year (which at the time was pretty high relative to prior years).

It's better to buy the individual games so you don't pay for that full first day and the other session on day 2.

Probably get better seats for the same price.

Agree with all. Melissa does a lot of last second swapping with schools in different session of a very small allocation forvsingle game tix. For some reason the number 250 seems right. But like everything else, former players et al make requests that jump the priority line. Officially sju does not have single game tix.

I actually feel bad for those that have bought the entire strip year sfter year but have low priority points overall. They will get bounced likely.

As someone who recently started with the MSG Plan (last few years), but attended games on an ad hoc basis forever, and always attended the BE tournament, I can tell you it hasn't been a major problem to get BE tourney tickets. In years past, it was the Wed/Thurs games, and you can get those for a reasonable cost usually. Last year, I didn't get any via the "season ticket holder allotment" but was still able to get the BE championship game, lower level, for a reasonable cost.

Creighton beating UCONN in the second semifinal helped a lot of our fans (myself included) get inside MSG on Saturday night, for a reasonable cost.

Last year did start to get expensive but I budgeted. Even going to Providence wasn’t terrible.
