Scrimmage today

That's a partial, first half stat sheet. And since Coach P knows the value of threes, expect a lot.

At an NIL fundraiser last night, he said he looks for an 8 percentage point difference in shooting percentage on threes to be successful. Offense shoots 38%, other team shoots 29%, that;s a winner.
You went to Repeal? I heard about it from a friend but totally forgot!! Ugh

I had the privilege of attending a scrimmge today (along with Panther). (Luckily i got a stat sheet at one point since I only could tell who a few players were so I needed that to match the player and his number.) Players that stood out were Brady Dunlap, at one point 5-5 from the field and RJ Luis who ended up 12-17 with 6 rebounds. One thing for sure was that most can shoot, even Soriano who hit 1 or 2 threes. View attachment 1197

what a great experience.

what was pitino like? what were things he was coaching, asking, looking for, demanding, etc....

Important for these guys to scrimmage because both the offense that they run and the matchup zone require real-time decision making. In format you have game tape to go to and go over to point out mistakes and make corrections. We have the luxury of having two full talented teams so we can actually have competitive scrimmages. Imagine we are still missing Daniss and Ledlum lol. It’s gonna be a fun year.

Scrimmage yesterday was very interesting. RJ Luis was the most impressive player on the floor.During Sunday's scrimmage it was Wilcher and Joel. Yesterday, Conway and Dunlap showed the ability to make shots in the first half. The Red lead 49-48 at halftime. Naheim was very aggressive. Everyone had their moments. There are a lot of interchangeable parts. We have a lot of players who can make shots. Aside from Joel, can't predict who will start and how many minutes they will play. Biggest challenge will be keeping everyone happy.

Enjoyed spending time with fan since 65, Frank Alagia, and Billy Schaeffer.

What is amazing is that 8 of the players were starters on D1 teams last season!

This is the deepest team at St. John's in many years. Echoing what Panther said, coach's biggest challenge will be what combinations work best and keeping talented players focused on "team" mentality.

Those scrimmages with Zuby, Ledlum and Soriano battling for rebounds will be intense!

I was able to see the box score for the first scrimmage about a week ago. Dingle, Taylor and Zuby were the stars. Dingle had 25 and Zuby had 10 blocks. Rick gives each player grades after each scrimmage.

Media usually covers workouts, but seems not the case yet?

Media has not been granted access to these SJ workouts it appears, unlike most other hoops programs. That seems odd? Person in charge of Compliance usually usually determines access as I understand it.
Too early. You want the media coverage closer to the start of school opening.
The arrival of the last two recruits will make for truly competitive workouts.
