Schedule reality check

Seriously..... What's up with you always playing the martyr and feigning victim? It's passive-aggressive and narcissistic behavior.
In fairness Dink, you could say the same about me. I love digging up old threads where I've gotten lambasted by some know-it-all (often a troll) for stating an unpopular opinion. lol.

Nah, just calling it like it is. But hey since you were/are one of the posters that is always in attack mode, it must kill you to know I was right all along. 😂👍

Still don't think our schedule ended up being a problem.

I wonder where we sit in terms of the NCAA tournament positioning if we won the close losses so far in BE play. Flip the home games against X and Nova. and the game @Prov.

we'd be 16-4 (6-3) with a solid slate of wins (Nebraska, Temple, Cuse, UConn, X, Providence).... we are probably ranked.

Crazy to think that those 3 winnable games being flipped and we look at everything so different. but that is sports for u

But I bring up these hypotheticals to say, I don't think our OOC schedule prevented us from being able to dance. We haven't taken care of business in conference play and that has killed us

You’re 100% right about where would be if we took care of business in BE play. But to many others point, it’s the lack of preparation for those games that hurt us. Not the lack of quality wins on OOC resume.

Yea I totally get this point but also really wonder how much more prepared we would have been had we scheduled a couple more tough games.

We won two closely contested games on a neutral court. We went into Iowa State and got experience playing a true road game against a team that is... probably gonna be a 2/3 seed in the tournament. I just don't know if I see us being that much better in conference if we scheduled a couple more Iowa St games where we don't even really compete against a superior team.

It could have helped our team chemistry maybe to get a few more of those under our belt. But idk I really do think the problem with the team this year is just bad roster construction. We don't have enough guys who bring different things to the table. And I don't think extra tough games would have saved this team. Looking around the big east I think we have one of the most poorly constructed teams. I didn't believe that coming into the season. But now after watching us this year I think it is absolutely true.

Jack, the reason why we lost those games is because our OOC schedule did absolutely nothing to prepare us to play in and win those tough close games. That’s the issue.

The games against major comp weren’t the issue. I’ll take those 5/6 games every year if we took away 2 of the bottom feeders and replaced them with similar comp. It’s the half a dozen sub 300 teams that got us fat.

That's speaking in absolutes, and we don't know if that is the case. Maybe we simply aren't playing well because this is who we are, schedule be damned.

Syracuse has played a worst schedule in past years; worst than our current schedule. It didn't affect them during the season due to being ill-prepared for the rigors of the Big East. I'm sure I could make many other cases similar to Syracuse if I took the time.

Some of y'all are trying to speak far too definitively about our struggles being related to our OOC schedule. IMO, it wasn't even a terrible schedule. It was more like an average schedule. We ain't good enough for one reason or more. Simple.

Though I advocate that rankings never tell anywhere near the whole story our OOC was ranked somewhere around 350th out of some 360 odd schools. Those rankings can't be that far off and that's hardly an average schedule. Had maybe 5 games scheduled with what should have been better major teams but our cupcakes had way too much sugar in them.

Blame falls on Anderson, Chris Huey and Cragg for all together planning this mess of a OOC schedule. Huey is a master of this from his time with Matty A and Mullin and former AD.

Our overall non-conference rating is 98th in the nation. At one point it was #320, but I presume that was earlier in the season.

Regardless, my point still stands even if our OOC schedule was strong, average, or weak.... Our play isn't absolutely correlated with our OOC schedule. It's primarily based on who we are as a team. Period.

You forgot to say End of sentence.
