Sanchez out for Nova

Was told that strong possibility of Obekpa playing is in effect. All based on morning warm up. Keep your head up boys. See you in Philly

Fortunately, Nova doesn't have a ton of size up front. They have big guards, but a small front court. I would have like to have Primo's big body working against Pinkston who is going to be a tough guard for anyone we can throw against him.

I think we are going to see a LOT of Sir'Dom tomorrow.

Raysheed a big strong kid. Would it be unfair to ask him to guard a 6-7 big? Do you guys think he could get it done?

Best on best. He is 6'4 and a tough kid. He'd get 2-3 steals on Pinkston with his hands and eliminate any perimeter scoring. He can also rebound well. I wouldn't mind trying it out.

I think Dom will see the bulk of minutes at the four now. Wow, this really changes the look of the team. We are going to look like a hustling group this weekend! GG playing big minutes, Dom sliding off the perimeter and into the four, and Sanchez sitting it out.

That would be a lot of pressure to put on the freshman. Could he do it? Probably, and do it well. But coming home to Philly for the 1st time, just may be to much to ask of him.

I remember back in the 70's, the Notre Dame battles against Marquette. Marquette had 6'11" Jim Chones at center and ND always had 6"5" Adrian Dantley guard him, and in a lot of games, shut him down, even though ND had a true center on the team. AD turned into a NBA HOFamer, as Jordon may some day be as well, but the pressure............

Not that Lavin needs advice on motivating players, but I would definitely stay away from the hometown aspect and harp on the fact that Nova didn't want the kid and the reason why is Archie. Hometown returns can go either way, but nothing beats play fueled by a chip on one's shoulder.

I'd like to try him out on Pinkston...if anything, just to shake things up. He can out-jump Pinkston, and his hands can't be overlooked here. Bigs get lazy when they body up with the ball. I guarantee Piknston hasn't posted a player as quick or explosive as Jordan.

I can envision some four guard lineups if there is any foul trouble.

Dom would be the one asked to guard the 6 7 big if CO doesn't play. I say Orlandos kid should transfer to u of penn hospital ,then Orlando can take a 2 hr break to play LOL. Congrats to him.

if Obekpa plays without injury we are fine. If we lose him, this will be an arduous ( Coach Lav Term ) task. Go Johnnies !!!!

Rysheed spent some time on pinkston at the garden. This is not as ideal because we are more forced into it, but if lav saw it as a good matchup with a full roster I'd imagine we'll see some of it today when we are short.

Sampson has to guard without fouling. Pinkston is a far different player than mcd but if Sampson can bring that level of energy and effort and stay on the court he has the best chance of locking pinkston up. I'm sure pointer will get some possessions on him too.

Pinkston is th kind of player where jones will really help. We don't really have any bodies like that besides jones. Jones was the only guy who even gave us a chance against pinkston in the bet last year, did the best job by far.

Can't forget about ochefu when we are short like this. Very active and when there is a collapse on pinkston he cleans a lot of stuff up.

I don't know as much about basketball as most of you guys, but Rysheed guarding Pinkston sounds preposterous.
Yes it does it will not happen We need for Rasheed and Samson to stay out of foul and for Harrison to have a great game Also need to rebound well

SAMPSON

Instead of a totally winnable game at full strength, this now becomes an arduous task. With a shorter bench, and vastly diminished front line, Villanova will likely try to exploit this from the get go, coming out strong, and hard to the basket. Get us in foul trouble early, and it could be over before we get going.
