Rysheed Jordan

The research in the field shows strong relationships between childhood trauma and both substance use disorder and mental illness; i.e. the damage is not only the injury but the loss of functional capacity.

Very sad news indeed. By glancing at the Instagram account, it appears he's expected to be home soon. Interesting

Interesting news for sure, if true.

It's not very likely, but I'd love to see some team somewhere offer him a spot and get him the hell out of philly and the bad influences he was subject to. The guy needs a fresh start, and the old neighborhood isn't the place to get it.

The problem with geographic solutions is that you take you with you.

Very true, but knowing people who hung around one of our best during his student days, when he went far away from NY, it was I believe helpful to his recovery. Yield to your greater knowledge my friend.

But wasn't he was blowing off school to go home whenever he could? If he wants a fresh start, being here isn't far enough away.

Beast, change of scene has merit but without specific interventions older tendencies reassert and folks self-select into familiar scripts.

If I recall correctly Rysheed was the eldest of 7 children and was very responsible with his younger siblings. I don’t see him abandoning them now. That is just not a realistic expectation of Rysheed.
