The best situation for me now is just to stay close to home,” Rhoomes said.

Rhoomes said he has already been discussing his future with some schools and his family.

It seemed like he was a decent prospect a while back, because every summer game he played in he'd seemingly get a double double, as well as complimented on his improvement. Not sure what the consensus on his current game is, though.

Not sure I'd want him if we only brought in two bigs, but I could be sold on him if three bigs commit this month.

Not sure why he would need a release. He did not qualify which means by definition his NLI is null and void.

I thought I read he was at TCU like taking classes or something. Any idea?

When your coach leaves and your school changes conferences two times before you ever hit the court, I think you should be given your release and a letter of apology.

Well then that would be a transfer and he would have to sit another year, right?

I did read the article and it said he enrolled during the summer. But then it said he went home for the year...

100% Agreed

Also, the question of his academic standing. Did he complete summer school successfully to qualify ?

Yeah that's an odd situation. Are you officially enrolled if you're taking summer classes part time? How does that affect your status? When all was said and done he did not qualify and did not enroll for classes in the fall semester so I don't see how it is that different than what Jakarr went through unless the part time summer classes are a bigger deal than I think they should be.

From this Scout article, it seems like he's not enrolled, so he'd just need the release from his NLI.

I don't know that he's the right kind of athlete for the Big East level, though.

That's the question. If he did not qualify his NLI is null and void anyway. The plan for Rhoomes when he failed to qualify out of NIA Prep if I recall was similar to Amir Garrett. Since he did not qualify initially he was hoping to qualify for 2nd semester-January 2011. In which he would redshirt at TCU for the rest of this season and then have 4 years of playing eligibility left.

But other then last summer it appears he never enrolled.

I think this maybe a transfer. If you recall Shane Larkin, probably DePaul's no. 1 recruit from 2011, signed and enrolled at DePaul for summer school 2011. However late in the summer, citing family issues, he wanted to "transfer." He ended up transferring to Miami. Now he never took any Fall Semester classes at DePaul. However it was deemed a "transfer" because he was enrolled during the summer. To the point he needed a waiver by the NCAA to play immediately at Miami or else sit out the normal 1 year of residence.

Did Larkin get the waiver? Rhoomes could be coming 'home'

Rhoomes is better than Fab Melo was at a similar point in his career. I would love him as a big off the bench. He could develop into a good player.

He's taking online classes to qualify, is that going to fly with the clearinghouse?

Also, anybody with a scouting report? I know it's been a whilee since he played, but I was never that familiar with his game.

I have seen him a number of times.. To me he is just ok.. Not very athletic but he is a legit 6'8 and rebounds well. Not so sure he is a big east talent.. But if we strike out on Chandler, Sanchez etc.. I suppose we could do worse.

What do you think about Dwayne Brunson? It looks like he went for 17 and 10 a game at Barton C.C. this season. Not sure if he signed anywhere yet.
