RPI

We actually went up two spots to number 10 after yesterday's loss.

7 BE teams in top 40 and 4 in the Top 15.

Thats a joke

Why?

The Big East is very tough this year.

Moving up two spots after a loss is still kind of weird. Especially to the top ten, regardless of how good the big east it, which is pretty good.

Road losses are counted less...a two position change in either direction is negligible. I believe the poster was commenting on the second part of that post.

I think so far the conference is legitimate...very competitive from top to bottom, and if we placed six teams in the NCAAs i wouldnt be shocked which is exactly what we needed this year with a lot of question marks hanging over the Big East's head. The second part would be having success once the teams make the NCAAs but this is a good start.

But based on what we have seen so far.

Nova
SJU
SHU
GT
PC
X
Butler

all deserving of the top 40.

beating the hall tomorrow would be huge for our resume. Top 25 RPI win on the road

RPI wins for tourney consideration are based on where the teams end up. SHU will not end up top 25 in the RPI. Here's to hoping they stay top 50.

Unlikely. I'd sign for them staying in the top 100. A loss at Home to us will drop them considerably.

Then again . . . but one thing is becoming abundantly clear. The Big East season doesn't start until someone, anyone, wins on the road.

@NYPost_Brazille: Latest NCAA's RPI: Seton Hall 10, St. John's 25, Stony Brook 69, Iona 92.

Ken Pomeroy's rankings are the most accurate.

Nova 7
Butler 22
Gtown 23
SJU 38
PC 48
Seton Hall 49

Surprised DePaul not in the top 50, or maybe I missed it. It looks like Syracuse will be lucky to stay in the top 100.

As has been repeatedly stated, until Realtime switches the NIT semis and finals to neutral court games their RPI ranking for STJ will not be correct or in line with EVERY other RPI service. The difference between a home win and loss and a neutral win and loss vs top 10 and top 100 teams is pretty large.

PS that's only a comment on the RPI itself, not meant to debate if the actual atmosphere was a home, neutral or away game, by the way. The committee doesn't debate based on the atmosphere, just the RPI and the results.

7 of 12 remaining games against team in top 27.
This conference is a BITCH.

The way I see it, plenty of opportunities to shut up joe lunardi. I really hate that guy. Who makes an article saying a team won't make the tournament because of lack of top 50 wins, when they have 7 games left against top 30 AND a tournament where we can play a couple of those teams again? What a buffoon.

His opinion might be a little out there but the guy is damn good when it comes to predicting it. Obviously a lot changes in the next month but his record is pretty damn impeccable.

Buffoon is usually right

Lunardi is good at analyzing the #s when they are set or close to it. His opinions of one the court matters and predictions of how teams will finish have little to no value.

Bilas has STJ at 43

43. St. John's Red Storm

The Johnnies have talent and athleticism, which was on display against Duke. But when the game was on the line, St. John's backed up. The Red Storm have lost five of seven going into Creighton, and have not done a good enough job on the glass. Without rebounding at a higher level, St. John's will remain a bubble team until Selection Sunday. -- Jay Bilas

He is damn good at that. He's my favorite bracket guy to look at. I trust his brackets the most and he is very accurate. He isn't a buffoon I guess, but it was a buffoon move to write an article titled "Why St John's won't make the tournament" and then go on and state we don't have enough top 50 wins to make the tournament.

Its like a parent getting on their kids case about having a C in a class, when they have plenty of tests to bring the grade up. It's super premature. While I think he is great at weighing which teams deserve to make the tourney over others, he can't predict the future, so he shouldn't have tried.
