RPI 46 now after win yesterday.
Based on the current #'s, if the season ended now we'd be in. The season doesn't end today, of course, but it seemed damn near impossible to even be in contention two weeks ago.
Yeah the RPI is a bubble number but the #17 SOS is what puts us through. I'd say a 6-4 finish is what gets us in. 19-11 record with a gaudy SOS should be enough. That starts with DePaul on Wednesday. A huge home game.
19-11?
Some fans (especially a few mods) predicted no more than 15-17 wins after the Gtown loss. I agreed with them...unless Orlando Sanchez materialized. Well, I am still waiting and reality tells me the soft part of the schedule ends with the DePaul game. A 4-6 finish is more likely and I doubt the Big East gets more than 7 bids after the BE tourney bloodbath. Syracuse could become a winnable game with Coleman out but as others may have pointed out, Southerland will suddenly be declared eligible and negate that advantage. Coleman would have had a record game inside against us as the Hall center had.
Without an inside game, our games can go either way. The serious gamblers likely will be betting on a 3-7 finish.
Yes 13+6=.... Before you go on rants you should read carefully. I am not predicting we get 19 wins. I'm saying that's how many we need to have in order to get in. I believe this is the same guy who just one week ago said the odds of us getting in the NCAA's are 10-1. I doubt you know anything about "serious gamblers." Take it from someone who has thrown around their fair share of money in the past, that 10-1 comment was outlandish. A 3-7 finish with home games against DePaul, Usf, Uconn, and Pitt. And also a game against Providence who isn't very good. Your gambling advice is poor and you are too pessimistic.
I do not give gambling advice, especially to serious gamblers like you who has thrown away a fair share of $.
YOU, my Trukin' friend, should read carefully. You "predict" 19 gets us in? What gets us "in" is what we do in the Big East Tourney because the conference is too balanced and unpredeicatble this year.
I want you to be correct.....but if you think the Big East gets 9 bids, the rest of the conferences need to suck big time by March. I think the odds makers are looking at our 3 guard lineup that includes Greene and a freshman center that does not score and shoots 25% from the line and predicting a team with a big donut in the middle and poor shooters is a good team to bet against.
