Ron artest

why has Ron never come back to STJ? Does the school have something against him because of the incident in Detroit?

was watchin this game live. the slow-mo replay is all the evidence you need. but the real time speed..in actual time....it was brutal. stern may come down hard.

Brutal is the right word. We can all be thankful Harden didn't lose an eye. I guess Ron Ron won't be funny any more if he kills a guy. Guys getting banged up playing the game bad enough without the creeps that like to hurt people.

Just said on his twitter he is changing his name to" Metta Knock Out Some Teeth "

i know you guys are gonna think im crazy, but i think its getting blown out a little. Yes, you can not do that, and yes, its a def suspension, but i totally believe him it was heat of the moment incident. Look, we all know Ron Artest here on this site better than most, what makes him such a feared and sometimes valuable player is his fire. He plays tenacious defense, and with that rare quality that he doesnt back down to anyone. There have been plenty of players over the years that played like Ron, remember the Detroit Pistons ? Hey, all im saying is that it deserves a stiff penalty, but thats part of Rons game, his fire. Also in all fairness, he's been targeted and labeled as a goon. I see it it differently thats all.

The rumor on Campus has always been that after the NCAA sanctions and then the Detroit incident the University wants nothing to do with him. After last nights incident it only reinforces the reason why they have cut ties with him.

In fairness, he's been targeted and labeled a goon because he is a goon. "Fire", any mediocre playground player knows not to swing like that. IMO, his career should be over. I know that won't happen but that's what I would do.

I tend to agree with Cappy.

People overlook it because basketball isn't hockey where a fight breaks out every game. But there is plenty of physicality in basketball. No, it's not legal. But there is constant pushing and shoving in NBA games, and a few times every season punches are thrown.

It's wrong what Ron did. But it's not that out of the ordinary. And it's not "criminal". Give him a 15 game suspension, and everybody move on.

I never blamed Ron as much as the a lot of people for the 'malice at the palace'. It's hard not to slug a guy when he dumps a beer on you. The guy who really should have been suspended for ever was Jermaine O'Neil (sp?). He 'Yancy Gates-ed' a fan looking the other way.

This elbow was violent and just an odd choice. That being said its still a flagrant 2 foul and I think he should get the 2 game plus the amount of games Harden is out as punishment.

This was disgusting. I don't care if it was heat of the moment. He still purposely gave Harden a brutal elbow. He knew exactly what he was doing. Harden has a concussion because of it. That's not a basketball play. To compound that, he showed no remorse afterwards. He acted like a straight up thug when Ibaka confronted him. Andrew Bynum's foul on JJ Barea is nothing compared to this IMO. To purposely go after someones head with an elbow, and with that much force...there's something not right psychologically with this guy.

He's had enough chances. If I'm Stern, he's out of the league for good. There's no place for that. Until he retires, the chances of another "malice at the palace" are still there as long as "Metta WorldPeace" is on the court.

I'm embarrassed that he went to St. John's. Glad the school cut all ties with him.

It pains me that he's the only SJU guy in the league right now (until DJ suits up that is, but you know what I mwan).

And, the only reason that weas not criminal is becuase it occurred on the basketball court. On the street, it would be a felony.

"But it's not that out of the ordinary".

Please, show me a video or point me to an incident in a game where such a flagrant and violent elbow was thrown like that; where the ball was not in play and it was not "the heat of the moment" under the boards. it was borderline criminal IMO and it had nothing to do with the physicality of the game, nothing to do with the normal pushing or shoving that goes on in a game. Sorry, I have played, coached and watched ball all my life and what he did had nothing to do with being "part of the game."

I agree with RedStormRising 2, it isn't as bad as it looks, and not as bad as people are making it out to be. 3+ game suspension. Ron won player award for civility only last year. He's turn himself around and really has gotten a bum rap.I watched the Place debacle live and I think he got a lot more than he deserved. I like Ron; he's done a lot of good things..
