Robert Upshaw, C - FRESNO ST.

It could be a rumor, but who knows.... It's probably another overzealous (they have many) UK fan. I still think he ends up at Fresno State.

Last night a rumor came out about a 7 foot player was on the UK campus. The rumored player is former Kansas State commit Robert Upshaw. He is 6’11 and 250 pounds. He is suppose to make his decision tommorrow. UK fans watch tommorrow we might have a New Cat to sign with Kentucky.

Does it make any sense that UK would have 3 players at 6'10" - 7'0" (with Noel and Cauley)? Size is great, but not sure Cal can run an offense with 3 centers or even 2 with 1 coming off the bench. Not to mention, why would Upshaw go there with 2 centers on the roster now? Not saying that Upshaw has any interest in us, but UK makes no sense.

A guy as big as him would be hard to hide, so i'll assume he's not on our campus. Oh well.

I'm not sure we were ever really on him very hard. I know our staff went to Europe recently but it could have been for quite a few other guys. He's not the style of player that we recruit to our system really but I wouldn't turn away a kid with that type of size.

They did okay with Davis, Wiltjer, Jones and Vargas this past season. DeMarcus Cousins, Daniel Orten and Josh Harrelson worked out pretty good in 2010, too! :)

Sure, iT works out for the school f you can get one of these kids to be happy playing 6 minutes or 11 minutes per game like Vargas and Wijters did. I'm not sure what good it does for the player who's the odd man out. I just find it a waste for these kids to go to UK to sit on the bench. Cal does not play a deep rotation, so unless you're starter or first off the bench, you don't play. If that's attractive to a kid like Upshaw, then good luck.

Some kids want to play with great players. Whether they get a lot of minutes sometimes isn't even important to them, because development comes in practice everyday going up against Noel.

I don't agree with this approach, but it's not uncommon.
