Before there was white chocolate there was metal head mjmaherjr. Before I even drank or had a car my parents were insane enough to let us take the N27 bus to Roosevelt field and walk to the colosseum to camp out for tix for Ozzy and who was the opening band ? Metallica ! One of the most insane concerts I’ve ever been to where seriously feared for my life at times. That being said…. What an experience !!!

RIP Ozzy, but for me his music (except for Crazy Train) was right up there with Led Zeppelin and Eddie Van Halen for being overrated. Just my opinion.

[Apologies to Metal Head Mike; I'd be surprised if Mike didn't also have a crush on Sharon]

Eddie Van Halen overrated????? Never heard that one before.
I mentioned the same thing to a buddy about Van Halen, and he considered Eddie a music G d, couldn't believe that's how I felt, but I did.

Ozzy was more a personality than a musical genius, again, IMO.

Suspect it's both generational & genre related. Although I consider myself a music lover (my wife would call it music nut) growing up in the 60's I don't think I ever listened to a metal record and wouldn't be able to identify one song from Ozzy Osbourne or any of the groups on MJM's list - just not a genre we grew up listening to. I could name a couple of Van Halen songs but never listened to a whole album. I wouldn't comment on any of them because like with rap, I'm really not qualified to have an opinion.

If you're on Facebook follow Berkeley Breathed's Bloom County. He still posts art and some strips there on and off, in fact very frequently the last couple months. He's had a series about Steve's run-ins with ICE and Opus being deported. I imagine most of you are better off avoiding. ;)

I am a little younger than you but of the same vein. The closest I came to hard rock was brief flights with Aerosmith and Kiss in jr. high (kids will be kids). But trust me, you know Crazy Train, if only subliminally through ads and such.
