RIP Horace Clark

since the shooting, tourists have fled St Croix
The Fountain Valley massacre was a mass shooting that occurred on the afternoon of 6 September 1972 at the Fountain Valley Golf Course in St. Croix, United States Virgin Islands. The shooting left eight employees and tourists dead. Another eight were either shot at or wounded.
Been to all three Islands mentioned as part of Cruises. I believe there was another incident in St. Croix that caused cruise ships to stop going to St. Croix. We stopped their on a cruise 8 years ago when Royal Caribbean started stopping there.

interesting facts in the article....................Horace Clarke had a higher fielding percentage and OBP than Bobby Richardson, more stolen bases (Clarke 151, Bobby 73) higher lifetime WAR (Clarke 15.7, Bobby 8.1). Writers don’t always get it right and timing screws up perception.
While I agree that Richardson is overrated WRT his place in Yankees history (only 80 runs scored out of the leadoff spot in 1961, with 115 homers out of the 3 and 4 spots), some of those numbers are a bit misleading. I didn't see either one play, but the perception is that Richardson got to more balls then Clarke did, hence the worse fielding percentage. If you don't get to the ball, you can't be charged with an error.

Yes, he had more steals, but that's because the Yankees team of his day had no lineup behind him. It usually did not benefit Richardson to try to steal, because Maris and Mantle would be coming up soon. The risk of being called out, outweighed the benefit of stealing the base. That wasn't the case with Clarke's teams.

If you are planning a big event like a wedding anniversary try Caneel Bay on St. John

Somewhat pricey but worth every penny, IMO

Pre-Covid, American Airline use to have some great early December deals.
Caneel bay destroyed by the hurricanes, not likely to reopen. The resort is on land donated to the national park service by Lawrence Rockefeller under which terms he was given a 50 year lease to operate the resort, after which it would be returned to it's natural state. With only a few years remaining the new owners were attempting to extend the lease with the government who aren't budging. It is on a glorious property with 5 or 6 of the best beaches on the island.

Caneel Bay easily had the best venue restaurant, a high end Italian place called ZoZo's. It was in an open air building that was an old sugar plantation processing structure called the Sugarhouse.

We stay at the Westin.

Being that they had stopped about 20 years ago going to st. Croix, they must have resumed. Fredricksted has a huge cement promenade near the dock, much like mallory square in Key west. The days cruise ships come in, a barren square becomes filled with street vendors. People were coming off cruise ships and getting pick pocketed or robbed when they wandered into town.

For any kid who ever tried and failed to hit a good curve ball, some restraint should be taken to call a just deceased major league player mediocre. Kind of let's you know the type of Yankee fan Francessa is, a fan of winning only,
and same as he is a broadcaster - pompous and mediocre
