Wow-za. This would seem to signal RP will be very aggressive in the Portal / available recruits, and this roster will see material change.
I'm conflicted. I do feel sorry for the kids not included in his plan but excited that he sees this as a race to revival. There's always a trade-off. This is one more example imho.

Pitino is a tough coach to play for.. Many top recruits (spoiled brats) stay away from him.. He tends to get guys that are hungry... Russ Smith recruited himself to Louisville.. I believe the story went something like this.. Louisville assistants showed a little bit of interest in Russ when he was in high school.. Russ Smith started telling people he was going to Louisville.. Rick Pitino got word of that and asked his assistant coaches "Who is this Russ Smith character and when did we offer him a scholarship?".. The assistant responded that "we haven't offered and that he is telling everyone he is going to Louisville".. Needless to say, Russ got himself what he wanted and when he got to Louisville he gave Pitino 155% effort which led to a huge amount of turnovers.. Russdiculous was born .. Once Russ learned to control the basketball while going 155% speed he was incredible.. Pitino will take an average basketball player that doesn't like to play defense and turn them into a defensive nightmare for other teams.. He preaches defense first.. defense second.. defense third.. and then you can take a shot.. St Johns will play the best defense St Johns has ever played under Pitino.. Next year..

Considering what happened at Louisville and with the NCAA wrt Adidas not sure he minds being a Nike school.

I'm not a sneaker/apparel guy, but I assume getting Pitino bumps us up the list of attention from Nike?
 
There Rick is. Interesting that Zendon is also still listed from previous staff when all others besides Van were not.
