Redmen/Redfans Party Novita Garden City Wednesday August 30 4:30 start time !

Mike, thanks for the opportunity to meet another round of Redmen die-hards. Obviously Matt being there was the icing on the cake

And it was good to meet Paul's son, who was a bit emotional realizing how everyone feels about his Dad.

All in all, a really nice night catching up, and seeing a few people I haven't seen in probably 30 years.

Thanks again!
was a pleasure to do it and to meet you too finally

Unbelievable thanks to Matt A for coming. Absolutely awesome guy and beyond generous with his time he made sure he talked to everyone
There were a few younger guys there which is a good sign for our fan base. Who were the two younger guys in the back on the right? All in all a great get together. I'm enormously appreciative of everything Mjmaher does in planning this and the positive vibe he brings to this site.

Once again thank you Mike for hosting a wonderful event. I was very happy that those in attendance had an opportunity to talk and interact with Matt. I have known him since he was a freshman at St Johns in 2003, and am Blessed to call him a friend. He is truly a genuine person.

Hearing him discuss how he is attempting to implement Father Shanley and Coach Pitino's vision for St Johns was enlightening.

The only downside to the evening is that I did not get a chance ti interact with Son of Paul whom I have met previously. My apologies for that.

Matt A. was great. Walked us through how NIL works and the process. Off course he did not divulge the value of any of our NIL deals, but he did speak about how formulas are developed and used to distribute NIL raised by the collectives. He answered numerous questions and engaged with all.

Also got to meet one of our webmaster’s son‘s, Max. He is here on business (turns out I saw the group he was with coming in Huntington the night before as they were leaving a restaurant) and unfortunately arrived after several had left but all remaining expressed our gratitude for his father in creating and maintaining this site.

it was great to see familiar faces and meeting new ones. A great night was had by all.

Astoria STH and his brother

The only bad part about the night is that it ended. Meeting so many new people that share the same passion is amazing. Hearing so many cool stories I felt like all of us could of talked St Johns basketball all night.

Can't say enough great things about Matt A he is a huge asset. This alum started from bottom and worked his way to where he is now in life with that grit and grind New York state of mind that he has. He is a genuine guy who wants nothing more than to see St John's succeed. He bleeds St John's , he is one of us , and I am very happy that he is home right where he belongs.

Mike, amazing event thank you for setting this up I will never miss one. It was a pleasure meeting , and hanging out with many of you, you know who you are. Mike, when we take over the country this year you'll have that whole place packed out next year. This is just the beginning, there are no emergency brakes on this train were going full steam to the top.

Was great that you made it and for those who don’t know their Roman numerals that tee shirt on the left Kranmars designed for our section 114 crew for msg.

This is totally not believable but my friend and I are hanging out at Novita with Looies daughter Enes ( maybe spelled wrong ) and she’s getting takeout to bring to her parents
Someone mentioned to me either st the last meet and greet their or immediately afterwards, that she does go there from time to time.

Enjoy.

It’s crazy but I guess not crazy. Before we even knew who she was she is salt if the earth nice and friends with my friend Kaice the Barender. My friend Kaice says when I walk in “ this is my friend mike the St. John’s guy “ and she knew. Not from her dad but from my friend she doesn’t follow hoops much but it was literally fascinating to me that she sees her dad solely as a dad when Kranmars and I pretty much worshipped him in college because even though we weee pikers he treated us like we meant something.

this was literally one of the most fascinating after work days in 31 years

That's a very accurate assessment of Enes. She retired a bit prematurely from her job so she could be there for her folks who im pretty sure she sees just about every day. She is incredibly kind, and very human, two very evident examples of the apple not falling far from the tree. When we first met I asked her about her first name, since a very close relative of mine had the same name, spelled slightly differently and also had Italian ancestry. I had never met anyone with that name.

Enes knows and appreciates all the love that legions of sju alums have for her dad, but as Mike said, isn't much of a basketball fan. She also doesn't exist off of her famous name.

I'm glad you had a chance to meet her Mike. Coach is such a treasure because he was a great coach, but Enes is another reminder that Lou is so much more than a basketball coach. He is a great man, husband, and father.

Rick Pitino gets all of that, which is why Rick mentions Coach C. Every time I've heard him speak, whether Coach is present or not.

Rick is restoring SJU basketball, but I assure you will also connect with fans and alumni in ways we haven't seen in a coach since Enes' dad stormed the sidelines. Like Lou, Rick is one of us, having grown up in the lower east side, Cambria Heights, and Bayville. For those reasons, This may just be Rick's most enjoyable and rewarding stop. The storyline of hometown boy returning to his roots to make sju a basketball powerhouse is the stuff of legends. And it's all about to begin.

Enes went to St. John's Queens campus, I believe, and was in school with my brother-in-law and sister-in-law.

My sister-in-law lived in Valley Stream back then and knew Enes a little bit (maybe in classes together). She always would remark that Enes was very lovely, if a bit on the shy side. Who knows that was about 50 years ago.

It never came up whether Enes was into BB or not, but my brother-in-law was not, and my sister-in-law only a little. (My sister-in-law's dad was a huge fan by proxy and he and I would talk SJU hoops often and I'd take him to games he was thrilled). Even though they were both at SJU when we were really good with Looie as our coach.

Love Lil' Luigi.
