Redmen.comers Stay Safe

Huntington got hit real bad. Soooo many trees down. Our house came out fine. No power and lipa said at least 10 days because something about substations down and the streets havent been cleared near us or the wires and they have to do that first.

Gman ask your mom about the huge tree still blocking soundview

On the bright side while all of huntington pretty much didnt have power yesterday little vincents pizza was still cranking out pizza all day. Thank god for the small things in life :)

I don't think I can take another 10 days of no power. Thats ridiculous. It's going to get a bit colder tomorrow. Not happy about the thought at a weekend in the 40's without power.

got a generator today up in yonkers but no one had gas tanks. I'm actually stuck in the bronx now because not enough gas in my car to make it back and all the stations in yonkers and the bronx that we saw are out

Guys, sorry to hear about all the power loss and the shortage of gas stations. We had significant tree damage and are also without power here in Cental NJ since Monday night, but after losing it for 6 days with last year's Halloween snow storm, I picked up a generator. Lucky for us here that there are towns within 30-45 minutes that have their power back, so we can hit their gas stations to fill up tanks.

I can't believe how bad Breezy Point, Far Rockaway (where my Dad grew up), and the Jersey Shore have been hit. So many families displaced, confused and distraught. We'll all bounce back strong just like we do from the greater NY area, but there is lots of work to do. It really makes you appreciate what you have, and appreciate those who work around the clock for the utility companies, the police, firemen, and even the guys pumping gas all day long with lines of 30-40 cars deep.

Good luck to all of us with getting our power back and then picking up the pieces and rebuilding.

Just got power back tonight in Keyport, NJ. Sporadic neighborhoods have power back. 5 minutes after I started new generator power came back on.

No damage to house. No homes were lost in town, just a few restaurants near the water and about 3 or 4 marinas (including boats) have been destroyed.

My sister was really lucky. She lives in Union Beach, where the town was decimated. She had water surrounding her front and back porch with 5 foot waves going through her backyard.

55 homes have been destroyed with countless others that were flooded. The town is only 1 square mile, so the damage is significant. The national guard is patrolling at night. Also, they have lost 2 ambulances, 1 firetruck and 4 police cars while they were performing life saving services. Florida has already donated 4 polices.

I hope everyone is safe.

JSJ, good luck down on the Jersey Shore. I just went to the Facebook page of Stone Harbor, our favorite spot on the Jersey Shore and it is wild; looks very scary already.

Best of luck to all during this (Non-Red) Storm!

Many, many thanks for your kind words. I greatly appreciate all the good thoughts!

I am delighted to report that my home in Spring Lake (2 blocks in from the ocean) experienced only very, very minor damage.

More importantly, we are all safe and sound and that's what really counts.

We were very, very fortunate.

Power will be out for another week we are told, but in the grand scheme of things who cares. I don't

Can't complain about such a minor inconvenience when there are many souls suffering great pains.

My mother in law lives in Avon By The Sea (also 2 blocks from the ocean) and her house was flooded. The good news is that she lives with us and the house is only used during the summer months by her sons.

We are extremely grateful for our tremendous good fortune.

For those that are suffering, please know that you and your families are in our prayers.

God Bless you all !

I started this post just a few minutes before we lost power. We just got power back here today (Sunday) in Levittown. I hope everyone made it through OK. It was getting very cold inside and I hope people realize that this thing is not over until everyone has power. The gas is inconvenient (unless the generator is running your heat). However, older people may be in real trouble if they don't get power soon. I really hope if you can see this you check on your neighbors if possible. A bad situation could get worse if everyone doesn't get power soon.
