Redmen.com Bracket

Son of a B I went out in the sweet 16.

Expectations are way too high. Were you St. John's coach, you would have been given a lifetime membership at the Douglaston Club.

My completed bracket is attached. Some game reports:

In the East, Paul Massell cruises past Boo Harvey in the first round, and soundly defeats Tom in Salem (who beat Beast of the East on a buzzer beater in the first round, while accumulating 17 technical fouls, 8 flagrant-ones and 5 flagrant-twos).

Meanwhile, Mean Gene pulls the upset on Jack Williams based on pure meanness and the fact that Jack is distracted with studying. He then faces the laconic No Hope, who defeated the almost-as-laconic Dee in the opening round. The Mean Gene upset train continues when No Hope goes missing and forfeits the game.

Mean Gene meets up with Paul Massell in the Sweet 16 and pulls off yet another upset, getting the Elite 8 on the strength of not using his real last name.

In the other half of the East bracket, the opening rounds go to the chalk with 6 seed Ccnobz defeating 11 seed Firestorm, 3 seed MKras over 14 seed SJUAlum98, 7 seed Rawdog over 10 seed Tony in Fairfield, and 2 seed LMF over 15 seed NYC Redman (in a rout). Top seeds MKras and LMF then advance to the Sweet 16, where LMF beats Mkras on a buzzer beater in a grudge match.

In the South, MJMaherJr swamps an overmatched Ray Morgan in the first round. He then faces Avon Barksdale, who defeated MJDinkins in a match that women and children were prohibited from attending. All I can say is, it was ugly. Avon had nothing left in the tank for MJMaher, who moves on to the Sweet 16.

Meanwhile, Fun mows down QcRedman (who mistakenly thought there were rules when up against Fun) and then takes out MCNPA (who made the same mistake. Nice guys finish last, boys).

The Sweet 16 matchup of Fun vs MJMaherJr is of course the game of the tournament. Fans were taken out by the score to be stitched up after splitting their sides laughing. In the end, MJMaher has just one more ounce of funny and gets to the Elite 8.

In the other half of the South bracket, Gman methodically advances over JohnnyFan and then takes out Salty Dog, who beat OLV72 when the latter fell asleep watching the NCAA tournament on TV. Bamafan beat Otis when Otis's attempt to emulate the Villanova offense failed, and then took out Sirvoo who got stoned while listening to the Grateful Dead in celebrating his first round win over Russell Indemaio.

However, Bamafan is then suspended for NOT being stoned, and Sirvoo, playing loose, defeats Gman to get to the Elite 8.

In the Midwest, Moose takes out Section 3 and then faces Logen, who came out of retirement to bitch-slap Marillac. Logen then re-retires, allowing Moose to advance to the Sweet 16. Jersey Shore Johnny has the Red-White club pay off the refs so he can beat MarkRedman in the first round, but then runs out of money and loses to Main Man, who previously snarked his way past Richard Steinfeld (who just didn't get it). In a matchup of contrasting styles, Main Man slices to the hoop repeatedly and defeats Moose to advance to the Elite 8.

Also in the MIdwest, it's Room112 over Redmanwest and Kranmars over Monte. Room112 then pulls the upset over Kranmars, who may have been distracted by an all-day Honeymooners marathon. Meanwhile, Zanman advanced in a mild upset over Jumbo Peanuts, while Redmannorth defeats Adam. Redmannorth then out-nices Zanman to get to the Sweet 16, where he promptly loses to Room 112 who is en fuego (no fire extinguishers in Room 112, apparently). So it's Room 112 in the Elite 8.

Finally, in the West Paultzman blows out Redken and then blows out Class of 72, who punched out SJU85 in an alley (actually it was a suckerpunch and SJU85 never saw it coming). Guinness 77 uses his age and experience to defeat Knight, but it turns out that Newsman13 is too aged to beat the angry Fran Who? Guinness still has enough on the ball to take out Fran Who? and get to the sweet 16, but then he runs into the Paultzman Kentucky-like buzzsaw and that's the end of him. He retires to the bar for a Guinness.

In the other half of the West bracket, Sherman, Sheridan and Grant march to victory over Mattc and then face TxRedman, who pulled the shocking first round upset over Ohiofan (who may have been too busy watching soccer). In the second round, SSG's supply train breaks down, and 14-seed Tx Redman sails on to the Sweet 16. There, he faces Desco80 who used the Princeton offense to eliminate SimplyRed and then We Are SJU, who squeaked past Frank 61 in the first round. When We Are SJU can't figure out the Princeton offense (since SJU doesn't believe in structured offense), Desco moves on and ends TxRedman's Cinderalla run.

So the Elite 8 matchups are Mean Gene vs LMF, MJMaherJr v Sirvoo, MainMan v Room 112, and Paultzman v. Desco80.

In the opener, LMF unleashes a hail of 3 pointers to move past Mean Gene. MJMaher breaks out his secret playbook, A Thousand Years of German Humor to defeat Sirvoo. Main Man beats Room112 because the latter is in the hospital with third degree burns from being en fuego. Desco80 puts up a good fight, but is no match for Paultzman's lineup up five 7-footers.

The Final 4 is one of the least competitive in history, as MjMaherJr blows out LMF and Paultzman erases MainMain, setting up a heavyweight final of Paultzman vs MJMaherJr.

And the winner is ....

(see the bracket attached).

One of the funniest posts of the year! You seem to have captured many of our Internet personalities perfectly except I would never sucker punch anyone. I would shoot them right between the eyes after they said "What" again.

Aged??? Maybe, but my two hand set shot is unbeatable!!

LMF, more like LMFAO after reading this. Splendid work. Like a few others I thought it was a real tourney bracket and did not read until now.

I am thrilled to have defeated OhioFan and his German friends but SS&G and his Yankee army left me in no shape to face Desco80. I will use this summer to get in better shape and Cinderella here promises to make a run at the Final 4 next year.

Thanks Lawmanfan! This was a great antidote to all the other stuff going on..

I am firing myself for losing in the first round, even if the refs screwed me.

I went out in the first round like a...uh...Steve Lavin coached team. In my defense, my only big man was suspended for stealing a chalupa from Taco Bell.

I recommend printing it out in Landscape format, for those who are interested.

Apologies to anybody who didn't get listed, but I don't believe in play-in games.

No worries, with my Karma I never had a chance.

I am a lucky 13 seed

I am just not sure how you leave an Amaseinyourface out of the field of 64?? #RM64 #snubbs

You can maybe say not enough big wins or recruiting predication's, but what about the eye test? #Amase #snubbs #RB64

Really though lawmanfan this was hilarious. Well done!

I am happy this thread is still providing some laughs. We sure can us them.

I apologize again to the great posters who got left out. Truth be told, there are so many good one that instead of trying to remember names, I just went through the Obekpa thread and mostly uses who posted on that. So if you got left out, it's probably because you didn't inhale.

Clearly austour and mase were terrible oversights, among others.

I did enjoy the 8-9 games, though.

don't feel too bad for austor oversight. I misspelled his name on the site for over 10 years before he finally told me out on the ucla trip :)

and here I was thinking "ass-tour" was just a joke ...

I jest, I jest...

Actually, LMF, not sure if you are recalling this but towards the end of his posting Maven took to calling me Asstour a few times, he's so witty. Mike just can't spell.
